11. We choose to create a presence on Facebook
because it is a bigger arena that tends to be more
personal.
It is where our patrons celebrate their
hobbies, share information,
advocate for causes, and make
recommendations to those
they trust.

12. One More Thing . . .
Facebook Fan Pages are NOT for US!
They are for our patrons.
Fan pages give our patrons an outlet to talk about
their library. Fans can post comments about books
they are reading and start discussions. They can
encourage others to attend programs and be part
of library initiatives. We give THEM the
opportunity to interact with other patrons and
love their library even more.

In February 2004 Zuckerberg launched "The facebook", as it was originally known; the name taken from the sheets of paper distributed to freshmen, profiling students and staff.
Within 24 hours of launching, 1,200 Harvard students had signed up, and after one month, over half of the undergraduate population had a profile. Now, FB has more than 350 million active users with 122 million visits per day “If Facebook were a country, it would be the fourth most populated place in the world. This means it easily beats the likes of Brazil, Russia and Japan in terms of size.”
