Rationale:
Over the courseof this year,I have made an advert for a Scottish soft drink,a horror-based audio podcast,
a print magazineabout video games and a music video for one of my favouritemetal songs.Through these,
I’ve learned how to compose a jinglefor an advertisement, record my voiceand make it sound nice, edit
my voiceto make it sound likeanother voice, create a magazine cover in Adobe Photoshop, and edit videos
to music.These skills(particularly thecreatinga magazine cover and editinga video to music skills) will be
used to create posters for my hypothetical docufilmand the trailer for said hypothetical docufilm.These
skills will help my FMP be the best that I could possibly makeit(in the production process,at least).
Project Concept:
The firstconcept for two for my project is a trailer for a documentary film(or docufilm) about Monty Oum,
an animator and writer who is famous for being the main mind behind the popular animeweb series
RWBY, currently produced by Rooster Teeth.
The trailer would feature some clips of Monty Oum, whom the docufilmis about,possibly setto a song
from the web series RWBY (which he was chiefly responsiblefor creating),possibly an acousticremix of the
main theme of the show ‘This Will Bethe Day’, or ‘Indomitable’, a song from Volume 6 (if I can get my
hands on it), and it would end with a title card for the docufilm(the filmwould either be titled
‘Indomitable’, named after one of Monty Oum’s quotes about the human spiritbeing‘indomitable’,or
‘Forward’, named after Monty’s personal mantra of ‘Keep moving forward’), and a rough releasedate for
the film(that release date being in the ballpark of late2019 or early 2020).
The second concept out of the two that I have in mind for my FMP is thatI would possibly createsome
posters for this hypothetical docufilm(one to three posters). One idea I have for a poster for the
‘Indomitable’movie is one that features the face of Monty Oum on one side(splitin half down the middle,
similar to a poster for the movie Bohemian Rhapsody) and the face of Ruby Rose, the main character of
RWBY, the series Monty Oum created, on the other, also splitdown the middle,opposite of Monty’s face.
A quote from Monty would be at the top of the poster, and the title/releasedate of the movie would be at
the bottom of the poster.
What research will you need to conduct and how will ithelp you make your project?
Some research that I would have to conduct in regard to the trailer thatI’d make is regardingfootage of
Monty Oum when he was still alive.There is a comprehensive video of many funny moments of Monty’s
life(as well as a very touching tribute to himposted on Rooster Teeth’s YouTube channel),on YouTube,
which is something that I should be ableto use to great effect in makingmy trailer.

Photoshop tips,in order to learn how to tweak my posters so I can make them look as professional as
possible.The poster that I would take the most inspiration fromwould be the poster for the movie
Bohemain Rhapsody,which features partof the faceof Freddie Mercury (played by Rami Malek) on the
poster in front of a purplebackground, with nothing but a quote, the movie’s title, and a releasedate.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I plan to evaluate my work by comparingitto movie trailers and posters that I like.Comparingmy work to
the standards of those kinds of movies and movie-posters will allowmeto judge myself as well as possible,
which will help me be the best that I can be at makingmovie trailers and posters.
It will help develop my working practises through the process of critiquingmyself and my work, so I can
learn from it and improve future projects when I partake in them later on in my study/media career.
