2. What is IELTS & its Purpose?
• IELTS is International English Language Testing
System.
• Purpose: To assess the English language
proficiency of non-native English speakers.
Also necessary for study abroad or
Immigration purpose.

3. IELTS Modules
• There are two modules of the IELTS:
Academic Module: IELTS Academic is intended
for those who want to enroll in universities and
other institutions of higher education and for
professionals such as medical doctors and nurses
who want to study or practice in an English-
speaking country.
General Training Module: IELTS General Training
is intended for those planning to undertake non-
academic training or to gain work experience, or
for immigration purposes.

4. IELTS Test Structure
• The IELTS test has four parts: Listening, Reading,
Writing & Speaking
• Listening, Reading and Writing are completed in
one sitting. The Speaking test may be taken on
the same day or up to seven days before or after
the other tests.
• All test takers take the same Listening and
Speaking tests, while the Reading and Writing
tests differ depending on whether the test taker
is taking the Academic or General
Training versions of the test.

5. IELTS Score & Validity
• 0 to 9bands, in 0.5 band increments.
• Validity of IELTS Score: 2 years for Australia
3years.

6. Exam Duration
• The entire testing procedure lasts about 2
hours 45 minutes.
