Juan Bergelund of PFL Coordinator outlined plans to test cargo drones in the Amazon to deliver anti-venom for snakebites, which currently takes 6 hours by motorized canoe. The testing will involve engaging with the local community, flights of up to 40 kilometers, simulating snakebites, and additional testing in February 2017. The big team testing effort involves various fixed wing and rotary drones and aims to complete 50 flights over 2 weeks to evaluate using drones to quickly deliver anti-venom in emergency situations.
