Since we’re building SharePoint Server 2016 on the same core platform for SharePoint Online, you won’t be surprised to see similarities between the two. SharePoint Server 2016 unlocks new user experiences that are intuitive, yet familiar. For IT professionals, it delivers improved performance and scale with simplified management. And for developers, it offers an opportunity to build for cloud or on-premises. A: No Q: Do I have to go the MinRole way? A: You can still go all Custom and do as you wish Q: Is Single Server Farm going away? A: The Option still exists, but you need to install SQL yourself! Q: Why Can’t I just start a other services on my MinRole servers? A: SharePoint will shut them down

32. • Fast Site Collection Creation is a mechanism designed to improve provision performance of Site Collections through instrumenting a copy operation using SPSite.Copy at the Content Database level. • Instead of creating a blank site, activating all the features to get the Site Collection you want, SharePoint will copy the template at the Database Level! **** Only by PowerShell and Template needs to be enabled beforehand*** No more waiting for the Site Collection to create!

Excel Services functionality is now part of Excel Online in Office Online Server Preview, and SharePoint users can use the services from there. • The following Excel Services functionality has been deprecated: • Trusted data providers • Trusted file locations • Trusted data connection libraries • Unattended service account • Excel Services Windows PowerShell cmdlets • Opening of Excel workbooks from SharePoint Central Administration site ** Viewing and Editing Can still be done with Office Online Server**

41. SharePoint Server 2016 requires updated versions that will ship later this year. The SQL Server 2014 Power Pivot and Power View add- ins for SharePoint 2013 cannot be deployed or used in SharePoint Server 2016 IT Preview. The following business intelligence features won't be available until then: • Power Pivot Gallery • Scheduled Data Refresh • Using another workbook's Data Model as a data source • Power View reports (standalone or embedded in Excel workbooks) • Power View Subscriptions and Report Alerting • Power Pivot Management Dashboard • BISM Link support Only for Preview!

42. • Currently only choice is to use AD Import • However.. No Photos, No two-way Sync… • But Never fear, MIM is here! (Microsoft Identity Manager) • MIM will run on an external server, and SharePoint will only consume it. Because no great story starts with someone trying to start the Sync Service
