Lennie kills the puppy.
Curley’s wife: dreams.
Lennie kills Curley’s wife. What is
his main worry?
Lennie flees.
Candy finds body and gets George.
Candy is angry with Curley’s
wife, why?
The mob goes after Lennie.
Candy asks George if they are still
going to buy the farm.

3. Section 6
Lennie arrives at the riverbed.
Pleased that he remembered to
come there.
Two visions:
Aunt Clara
Gigantic rabbit
George finds Lennie.
How does George react?
Lennie makes his usual offer to go
and live in a cave, and George
tells him to stay.

4. Section 6
Lennie asks George to
tell the story of the farm
again.
George can hear the mob
come closer.
“Le’s do it now,” Lennie
says. “Le’s get that place
now.”
George shoots Lennie.

5. Section 5: analysis
From the start of the book,
Curley’s wife has been
portrayed as a manipulator.
How is she portrayed just
before she dies?
Why is Steinbeck’s
description of her body as:
“pretty and simple… sweet
and young” perhaps a bit
cruel?

6. Section 5: analysis
Slim (just as with the scene
where Candy’s dog gets killed)
is the voice of reason. Lennie
has to be killed for his own
good.
George now has a choice:
Watch Lennie be murdered.
Do it himself.
With Lennie dead either way,
what happens to their dream?

7. Chapter 6: analysis
The riverbank is described in
the same way as in the start
of the book, but with some
differences.
Does Lennie know what is
going to happen?
What makes George different
to all other workers?
How is this different when
he kills Lennie?

What does this tell you
about Slim in contrast to
Carlson & Curley?
Carlson & Curley are
