THE CITY OF FUTURE?

2. EVOLUTION OF CITIES
Technology has played a very fundamental role in evolution of a
city.
City’s evolution is dependent on the need of its resident and if
any new technology can be integrated inside the current city
network which could benefit its resident without causing them
any problems during its integration phase.
a) Transport Systems such as Metro, Monorail, etc
b) Water Distribution Network
c) Electricity Networks
are all examples that have changed the lives of people and
made it more simpler.

3. The next process in this constant phase of evolution is the
introduction of smart infrastructure and service management
through the use of information and communication systems.
Twentieth century cities evolved due to modernisation and
applications of technology in that era. But twenty-first century
will evolve on the basis of artificial intelligence i.e. cities which
can work independently without being dependent on humans
for input.
This is the major concept on which the Smart Cities are based
upon.
The Smart Cities have started becoming a reality with
development of projects in the cities such as Dubai, Barcelona
and many more. These all cities will be stepping stone as it will
demonstrate the ease of life, improved quality of life, reduce
environmental pollutions and better use of available resources.

4. CITY OF FUTURE
The city of future will provide its resident with better facilities
compared to the current city.
It will have its new amenities and some amenities will be
upgraded.
Everything will be connected to each other for better
utilisation of the city facilities.
The features which i envision in the city of future in about
10 years are as follows:

5. SMART PARKING
In big cities, the major problem
is the parking of vehicles.So
there will be system which will
show whether any parking slot
is free.
Due to this, citizen will no
longer have to waste time
looking for free parking slots
and due to which pollution will
also decrease.

6. SMART TRANSPORT
All the public transport systems
will be interconnected. This will
allow coordinating of different
transports in real time.
So if there is a stop which is
crowded then the buses will
coordinate their timings and route
so that they can reach that stop
as early as possible.
Hyperloop which is being
developed by Elon Musk will also
be part of Smart Transport.

7. SMART TRAFFIC SYSTEM
Driver will be alerted which
route has heavy traffic and
intelligent path selection will
route them to their destination
through alternate route.
Traffic lights will be
automatically controlled in
order to reduce the congestion
to the minimum taking into
account the traffic at certain
times of day.

8. SMART URBAN LIGHTING
The street lights uses a large
amount of energy at night time.
There are some streets where
at night time nobody or very
few people are around.
So the intensity of light will
depend on the people who are
around.

9. SMART CITY MAINTENANCE
Citizens will now be connected
to the government through an
application.
They can lodge any complaint
regarding potholes, road
issues, water problem,
electricity distribution, etc
through that application.

10. SMART MEDICAL
MONITORING
There will be monitorization
systems which will update the
doctor if there is any critical
events such as heart attack,
blood pressure, etc.
Under any critical event, an
ambulance will be dispatched
automatically to the patient
location.

11. SMART SURVEILLANCE AND
ID
In the surveillance cameras,
there will be face recognition
software which will recognise
the person identity and if any
rule is broken automatically a
receipt is dispatched to his
location.
Smart Id will be used which will
be linked to the bank account,
so no credit cards will need to
be used the ID can be used as
a mode of payment.

12. SMART ROBOTS
Robots will start replacing
people in the system due to
their reliability and accuracy.
Such as sweeper jobs will be
replaced by cleaning robots
and many more such jobs will
start becoming more machine
based.

13. CONCLUSION
City of Future will be a boon for its resident as their life will
get easier.
More and more jobs will start generating such as engineers,
managers, etc due to demand of the city.
Everything will be connected, so everything will work in
parallel manner and in a case of failure there will be
immediate replacement.
