Causes of pain in Ayurveda• Pain is an indication of a vata imbalance.• The aggravated vata brings rukshyata (dryness),laghutva (porousness), kharatva (coarseness) which causes the symptom of pain.• Apart from the normal physical causes, the desires for material pleasure (ragas) and passions are considered as causing and aggravating diseases. www.cozwecare.org
  9. 9. • We have a natural inclination to seek pleasure and avoid pain, which is termed as kama.• So long as the mind clings to the material pleasure (ragas) and desires, wellbeing in the real sense is unachievable. www.cozwecare.org
  10. 10. Tackling pain head-on www.cozwecare.org
  11. 11. Ayurvedic management of pain www.cozwecare.org

  18. 18. Ayurveda aims..• To bring balance of doshas and eliminate toxins from the body.• Attaining the state of vira or vairagya (detachment from the sensual world and its enjoyments and sufferings) www.cozwecare.org
  19. 19. Conclusion• Ranging from common pains like migraine, arthritis to severe pains due to cancers, Ayurveda is a ray of hope to many across the globe.• Simple Yogic postures, basic Panchakarma like snehana/nasya/basti/swedana ,music, mantra, food and herbo-mineral preparations can be used for the specific disease, person or symptom.• Increase in the ‘pain threshold’ and reduction of the causes of ‘Pain’ is a whole new approach towards pain. www.cozwecare.org
