3. Introduction
The Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer and is available for 35$
It is supported by the University of Cambridge computer laboratory.
It can be plugged into your computer monitor or T.V and can be used for many of the things
that your average desktop does – spreadsheets, word – processing, games and it also plays high-
definition video.
Measuring approximately 9cm x 5.5cm
5. What is Raspberry Pi?
The Raspberry Pi is fully featured low cost, credit card sized micro computer squashed onto a
circuit board.
Uses a standard keyboard and mouse. It is a capable little device that enables people of all ages
to explore computing, and to learn how to program.
It’s capable of doing everything you’d expect a desktop computer to do.
Promotes teaching of basic computer science knowledge in schools and developing countries.
The main purpose of the raspberry pi is to provide an affordable platform for coding.
6. HARDWARE…
The Raspberry Pi hardware has evolved through several versions that feature variations in
memory capacity and peripheral-device support.
Model B and B+; Model A, A+, and the Pi Zero are similar, but lack the Ethernet and USB hub
components. The Ethernet adapter is internally connected to an additional USB port.
In Model A, A+, and the Pi Zero, the USB port is connected directly to the system on a chip
(SoC).
On the Pi 1 Model B+ and later models the USB/Ethernet chip contains a five-port USB hub, of
which four ports are available, while the Pi 1 Model B only provides two
On the Pi Zero, the USB port is also connected directly to the SoC, but it uses a micro USB (OTG)
port. Unlike all other Pi models, the 40 pin connector is omitted on the Pi Zero.
8. Connecting and Working
The back of the board consists of the micro SD card
The SD consists of the RASPBIAN SOFTWARE
10. Hardware components
Wired key board and mouse inserted in
two of four USB ports.
HDMI monitor connected through HDMI
port.
A power adapter for designed to power
up to 2.3 amp. That helps in plug in and
power up all the peripherals of the Pi.
13. Generations of released models
Pi Zero released 2015
Model A 2013(26 pin) Model B 2012 (26 pin)
Model A+ 2014 (40 pin)
=
Model B+ 2014 (40 pin)
14. Applications
Raspberry Pi is used in many variety and interesting projects.
The default languages are Python, ruby, C, C++, java and scratch.
Taking advantage of it’s size, portability, cost, programmability, connectability.
It was created when there was much need of programmers.
Majorly used in gaming and robotics.
