2. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root
that is placed into your jaw to hold a
replacement tooth or bridge. Dental
implants may be an option for people
who have lost a tooth or teeth due to
periodontal disease, an injury, or some
other reasons.

3. Dental implants have been used since 1970
since that time they have undergone many
improvements in design
Modern implant come in variety shapes and
sizes to suit for different teeth they replace.

4. Dental implant have three basic parts:
The implant "fixture."
The fixture is that part of the implant that is
embedded in and becomes fused with the
jawbone.
The implant abutment.
The abutment portion of a tooth implant is that
part that lies at and above the gum line. It's the
part that supports and secures the dental work
(crown, bridge, denture) that's placed on it.

5. The crown.
Once the dental implant and the abutment are
in place, your dentist fits the crown, the
bridge or the prosthesis.

This process is used when patient have minimal
Bone height and are unable to wear denture

Used less than both previous types, in this
method we need to drilling completely
through lower jaw then bolting the mental
plate in to the bottom of mouthe.The
titanium then goes through the bone ,this
method also requires opening the skin under
the chin ,this method has high failure rate

These implants have a cylindrical
shape without screw threads and
can be placed easily in the
jawbone.

These implants resemble screw-type
implants in their shape. However, they
are hollow and the lateral surface has
multiple holes. As bone tissue can
penetrate into the implant through these
holes, the contact area with the bone is
increased, and therefore, a high bonding
force can be obtained. However, these
implants have weak strength
characteristics and have a risk of
breakage.
