Should neckties steal the show during a University Convocation Ceremony? Post-convocation rumblings of an academician from a private university in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
6. We
graduants
are
not
required
to
wear
suits.
So
our
neck/es
just
stand
out.
Any
problem?
In
that
case,
there
are
2
things
to
do

7. Enforce
dress
code.
Just
like
this
University
where
men
are
required
to
wear
dark lounge suit with neck-tie
1. Academic Attire : Graduands must wear complete graduation
attire (gown, hood and mortarboard) for the ceremony
2. Graduand Dress Code:
(a) Men : dark lounge suit with neck-tie.
(b) Women : presentable attire for official functions.
3. Guest Attire: Lounge suit, national dress, batik or office attire
Reminders: Please dress neatly and appropriately. However, the
followings are strictly prohibited:
(a) Tight-fitting attire
(b) Slippers and sandals
(c) T-shirts
(d) Jeans and shorts
The University has the right to refuse entry to any
graduand and guest who is not appropriately dressed.

8. Or
adopt
“No
suit,
No
/e”
policy
That’s
fine
with
me.
I
don’t
have
a
suit.
And
the
weather's
hot
anyway

9. Thank
you
for
reading
this
and
one
more
thing
about
the
dress
code
…
If
some
people
are
paying
a_en/on
to
“not
more
than
2
inches
of
skin”
above
the
knee
in
everyday
campus
life…..
