  3. 3.   Dreams are experiences of imaginary images, sounds, voices, words, thoughts or sensations during sleep. They usually seem real while your dream is taking place. When you wake up, you either don’t remember it, or you realize it never happened. What are Dreams ?
  4. 4.  Scientists are still trying to find out why we dream. There are many theories, but none have actually been scientifically proven.  There are two main theories as to why we dream, The Physiological theory and The Psychological Theory.  The Physiological Theory focuses on how our body, mainly the brain, function during the REM stage of sleep. This theory believes that we dream to exercise the pathways between brain cells. It also believes that during the first two years in ones life. Why do we dream ?
  5. 5.   The sleep cycle comprises of four stages and lasts for about 90-120 minutes. Stage 1:  From 5 to 10 minutes, the body and muscles start to relax. Stage 2:  Your brain activity, heart rate and breathing start to slow down. you're beginning to reach a state of total relaxation. The Sleep Cycle.
  6. 6.  Stage 3:  You get deeper into sleep. Stage 4:  Stage of sleep when you dream. It is also referred to as "active sleep" or REM sleep. The sleep cycle repeats itself on an average of 3 to 5 times per night, may repeat as many as 7 times. This is how a person dreams several times in one night. The Sleep Cycle.

  8. 8.   When you dream, your body faces some changes. Your adrenaline rises, your blood pressure increases, and your heart beats faster.  During a typical lifetime, people spend an average of six years dreaming.  12% of people only dream in black and white. Facts about dreams.
  9. 9.   Sleep might be disturbed during the night but the mind interprets the disturbance and makes it a part of a dream.  Five minutes after the end of the dream, 50% of the content is forgotten, after ten minutes 90% is forgotten.  Animals also Dream. Facts about dreams.
  10. 10.  Sleep Paralysis : Scientists have claimed that brain contains a built- in a function of paralyzing your body while dreaming. It disables the movement of body parts so that you don’t get practically involved into something while dreaming. The brain mostly paralyzes the body when an individual is in “REM” state of sleep.   11. 11.   Sleep Walking : It has been recently discovered that sleep walking is the practical version of Dreams. People who are found to be extra emotionally involved in the dreams used to walk while sleeping. However most of the people while sleepwalking hurts other. Many cases that were reported due to sleepwalking were of serious crimes like murder, stabbing, hitting or attacking someone. Facts about dreams.

  13. 13.   Day dreaming occurs when you are half awake, and it is the imagining or remembering of images or experiences in the past or future. 1, Day Dreams.
  14. 14.   Lucid dreams occur when you realize you are dreaming. the dreamer can reassure him/herself that it is only a dream and that he or she will soon awaken. 2, Lucid Dreams.
  15. 15.   A nightmare is a disturbing dream that causes you to wake up feeling anxious and frightened.  Nightmares may also occur because you have ignored or refused to accept a particular life situation. 3, Nightmares.
  16. 16.   Recurring dreams repeat themselves with little variation in story or theme. These dreams may be positive, but most often they are nightmarish in content. 4, Recurring Dreams.
  17. 17.   They are so memorable and vivid, that we simply cannot ignore them. It’s details remain in your memory for years, as if you’ve dreamt it last night. 5, Epic Dreams.
  18. 18.   Dreaming plays an important role in your well being and health.  Some researchers believes that dreams helps you to tackle stress.  Dreaming is a necessity and helps to recharge the mind and revitalize the body.  Research has shown that people who are for any reason stopped from entering the dreaming phase go through the symptoms of irritability and anxiety.
