Defense and space are high-stakes industries, and only the truly established giants get
to work in such fields. One such giant was approaching the transformation to agile, and
the task wasn’t easy. Making the top goals transparent at an organisational level was a
key obstacle for this organisation, and using Jira for managing OKRs didn’t help either.
This resulted in a process that was extensively complex, and adoption became
a big challenge.
SETTING THE RADARS RIGHT
The size of the organisation and the lack of proper, specialized tools were
proving to be the major issues. While OKRs aid in large scale digital & agile
transformation, not doing it right can have detrimental effects. Also, the
efficiency of Jira is several notches above its ability to handle OKRs off the
blocks, and the partner organisation was feeling the heat.
FINE-TUNING THE PATH
UpRaise for Employee Success was the first tool on the Atlassian marketplace
to pioneer the native integration of Jira & OKRs. Connecting long-term goals
to day-to-day projects has been productive for organisations, and with Jira –
they had a powerful platform to do so. The hierarchy view of OKRs in the app
was of particular interest to the partner organisation, and the stage for the
solution was set.
GIVING IT A GO
UpRaise team collaborated with the partner organisation to take the hierarchy
view of Employee Success app a notch further, and support their aim of
objectively measuring the progress of different teams. Now, they are working
with UpRaise customer success team to integrate relevant data from
Employee Success into their executive-level reporting dashboard.
LEARNINGS ON THE JOB
The large number of people involved in the project, and the important nature of the
partner’s business led to a few observations that hold true in the case of OKR adoptions:
The larger the organisation, the more importance transparency gets. It is
important for employees to align their goals with that of the organisations, and
the easiest way to go about it at larger ones is through transparency.
SIGNING OFF ON THE GOAL
The features enabled by Employee Success have helped the partner
organisation save at least 400 hours of their top executives every month.
The simplification of OKR processes has helped the executives of the partner
organisation consolidate the results in UpRaise for Employee Success.
