US Ignite is a public-private partnership that aims to accelerate the deployment and adoption of next-generation applications through test beds and partnerships. Its goals include developing infrastructure, next-gen applications, and economic leadership. It has 15 industry partners and collaborates with over 25 cities and communities. Key relationships include Mozilla, Internet2, Open Networking Foundation, and others. Selected events include a White House launch, developer workshops, and various hackathons and challenges.

We’re at a time in our country’s history when we need to build the interstate system all over again. But if we truly built the internet’s ultrafast interstate now, it would be like having an auto interstate for a population that only drives horses and buggies or Tin Lizzies. We aim to “ignite” and connect the various parties in building truly compelling, next-gen applications that can run on top of the ultra-fast networks. Ecosystem: We use five approaches to facilitate creation of next-generation applications, including: 1. University applications funded by NSF grants over the past four years.2.
