2. JUSTIFICATION
The educational role of the teaching materials in English it is imagination, since
the cognitive side with it develops, when student work manually and visually,
depending on the activities carried out in class, they consist of all support tools
and teaching aids, that are built to bring students to knowledge and facilitate
learning, to find out what material student need to use, take into account; what
teachers want to teach and what students expect to learn.
3. PROBLEM STATEMENT
How contextualized materials influence the learning process of EFL in 7th
graders at Liceo de Poás?

4. GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To describe the effect of contextualized material that influence the learning
process of EFL in 7th graders at Liceo de Poás 2017.
5. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
To identify consequences of the lack of contextualized materials that
motivate teachers creating didactic materials for the English lessons.
To determine the influence of contextualized materials in the process of
learning English as a foreing language in the development of English
linguistics competences.
To describe the benefits of contextualized materials in the EFL process
of students getting a better understanding of the topics.
To propose a set of contextualized materials for the enhancement of
speaking skill in EFL where vocabulary and images are involve in the
learning process of the students.
6. INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK
Institution : Liceo de Poás.
Location: San Pedro de Poás,Alajuela.
Mision: The institution want to fully educate the young people of the
Poás Canton, with academic excellence, favoring their development in
the scientific, artistic, physical and social fields, in order to respond to
the challenges presented by Costa Rican society, giving attention to
different educational needs and committed to live Christian values.
7. METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK
Type of investigation
The constructivism has a function that the student creates meanings
form the experience of the received learning, the mind filters what
comes from the world to produce its own reality.
Sources
Primary Sources: Instruments used.
Secondary Sources: A review of different books, magazines, web
pages.
Population
The subject are students from the Liceo de Poás, Alajuela.
9. OBSERVATION
• The observation of the class is very important because it can be taken into
account that for the students the individual work in class is important for a type of
activities, but also the group work is important so that the students have a better
understanding of the topics and a good relationship with the classmates.
• The use of different types of extra contextualized materials for students is very
functional because helps them to understand the topics and language in a clearer
way.
10. INTERVIEW
• According to the English teacher the benefits of the use of contextualized
materials are very important for the benefits of the students to learn with the
use of extra contextualized materials and thus enrich their students different
abilities.
• It is very important that teachers use the right material and the right tools for
a better understanding of the lessons. It is important to develop the different
language skills of the students.
• Teachers must ensure that they are developing the different skills with the
use of contextualized material in the class, for students to improve their
understanding and development in the classroom.
17. CONCLUSIONS
The lack of contextualized materials nowadays in classes affects the
good understanding of the lesson, the most affected are the students,
for this reason is so important to innovate them and that the teachers
give the best doing creative contextualized materials for the students.
Students have to be able to manage and understand the subject with
the help of contextualized materials given by the teacher, in order to
understand enough vocabulary, to be able to produce and perform
sentences.
18. Contextualized materials influence both the general formation of the
students, the development of their knowledge, and their specific
formation in the process of learning Enlgish as a foreing language.
Students are not being able to understand the subject without the help
of extra contextualized materials, understand the subject and
developing it during the lesson is one of the major objectives of the
class, therefore students have to be focused in the learning process
with the help of the contextualized materials made for the specific topics
explained in the class.

20. RECOMMENDATIONS
Teachers need to be creative in their lessons,and use extra material to
explain the topics in the class and thus reinforce the students´
understanding with these materials.
For students learn the language is very important for the development
inside of the classrrom , also the influence of teachers motivate
students in order to improve their different abilities.
21. RECOMMENDATIONS
Teachers need to be innovative and creative to create different types of
contextualized materials, since these resources constitute an important
change in students at the time of learning.
The lack of materials affects the understading of students as they need
to strengthen and nurture that part of the learnign process, for this
reason it is advisable that the teacher along the Ministry of Education
implement extra contextualized materials for students in their respective
subjects.
22. PROPOSAL OF A SET OF MATERIALS MADE IN
CLASS TO TEACH ENGLISH TO 7TH GRADERS
23. GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To develop support material as images with their respective vocabulary, so
that students can identify each word more easily.
24. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• To design various support materials optimizing the concentration of the
students.
• To determine the vocabulary of the students taking into account the
learning through practices and exams of the students.
• To describe dynamic activities so that the English class is more creative
and the students learn in a fun way.
25. PROPOSAL OF A SET OF MATERIALS MADE IN
CLASS TO TEACH ENGLISH TO 7TH GRADERS
• The proposal motivate teachers to improve their abilities to create
innovative contextualized materials related to the topic, based on the
explanations.
• Teachers are going to create some didactic materials in order to have
help students to have a better understanding of the topics.
• Teachers are going to be with other teachers doing this kind of
materials and they are going to create some flashcards related to
¨Greetings and Farewells¨, using some construction paper, printed
images, scissors, markers and glue.
• Create creative flashcards that can help to the topic studied in class, for
this reason students are going to have more materials in classes and
this will help them to their concentration in the English lessons.

27. IMPACTS OF THE PROPOSAL
The idea of this proposal create an impact in both qualitative and
quantitative prospects. The objective was to provide a motivation to
teachers in order to improve their abilities inside of the classroom, and
being creative when they need to made their own material in order to have
a better understanding of the topic that they are explaining.
28. SOCIAL IMPACT
The motivation for students to study and to be creative is an important
challenge that teachers face day by day and need to impact to them
through different kinds of material and also that the material needs to
be understandable, because that is the main objective from teachers,
and is a good way that students are going to feel motivated and do not
given up from high school, which is something really important.
29. INSTITUTIONAL IMPACT
The level of the students that work hard in class and are creative is
something really important for high school, because teachers are
improving the different areas in which they are capable to create and to do
extra material in order to have a good lesson.
30. ACADEMIC IMPACT
Preparing this kind of activities and motivating students to improve their
creative abilities in English lessons is an important step to grow in the
students´ behavior, in order to have their minds busy and also
understanding the different topics through this kind of activity, and also
creating a good relationship with their classmates.
31. OTHER STUDIES DERIVED
This proposal can be used for the Ministry of Education and also different kinds
of educational system.
This study can help to continue searching on this topic and learn in a different
way the vocabularies.
