5. Rectilinear Forms
Studio Rakich, Fall 09’
This project explores rectilinear forms and hierarchies. Each object is composed of three differ-
ent forms, and can stand up from any orientation. The forms themselves are an exploration of
6. Curvilinear Forms
This project explores cur-
vilinear forms and void-
space. Initially, the objects
are formed from three
intersecting curvilinear forms.
These objects are then
deconstructed and used to
form new objects.

9. Pavilion Project
Studio Rakich, Fall
This project deals with defining public, semi-public, and private space. This pavilion derives it’s shape from the Rectilinear Forms
and Curvilinear Forms projects. Spaces are defined by their height, size, and obscurity. The private space is the highest, hardest
to get to, and most walled off, while the public space comprises the entire open bottom of the project.
10. Studio Roberts, Fall 10’
Billboard Art Studio
This project comprises an art studio and gallery engaging a preexisting billboard in an urban void. This building uses the
billboard as the structure of the building. The Gallery is recessed into the ground floor, with the studio on the second and
private rooms in the top floor.
14. The goal of this project is to design a lighthouse museum, itself a functioning lighthouse, located on open water. The museum
building is meant to evoke an image of waves crashing over rocks, with the tower itself rising steadfastly above. The docking piers
of the artificial island provides it’s own protected harbor.

17. Metal Smith Building (Bookends Project)
Studio Roberts, Winter 11’
The bookends project is a collaborative design effort.
Groups of 8 design just as many live/work buildings in
a strip of Harmonie Park. The Metal Smith shop uses
concrete and iron construction, heavy forms, and oblique
angles to give the building an ‘anvil and forge’ feel.
It coordinates with it’s neighbors though shared access
points and matching profiles.

18. Music Player Movie
3D Computer Graphics, Fall 10’
The goal of this project is to design a movie of an instrument being played in a magical or
unconventional fashion. This movie featured a metronome whose arms are split and grow
into fingers, which then play a keyboard.
21. ‘Robie House’ Bird House
Studio Roberts, Fall 10’
For the birdhouse project each student is assigned a famous house, in this case the Robie house. The houses are then
drafted and analyzed, and from this an accompanying birdhouse is developed. This birdhouse matches the broad horizon-
tal forms and uninterrupted lines of the Robie house with broad vertical forms and continuous lines. The treated but naturally
colored wood reflects the similarly bare wood and brick of the Robie house.
25. Columbarium Project
Studio Roberts, Winter 10’
The columbarium project is a proposed renovation of the fire-gutted Pilgrim Baptist Church
The new functions use the existing scaffolding on the north side to structure the columbarium, with the chapel, funerary, and admin-
istrative functions supporting the remaining walls. The ceremonial entrance is located on the second story, with the handicap acces-
sible walkway creating a courtyard for the chapel.
28. Royal Oak Square Project
The Royal Oak Square project is a proposal to redevelop the unsuccessful parts of a city block. The
neighborhood is a commercial one, so the building itself features shops, offices, and a restaurant. The
building attempts to distinguish itself and draw in customers by featuring a concert space in the rear of
the building.
30. Interior Spaces Project
Studio Fuchs, Fall 11’
Following the Royal Square Project is a project to
develop one of the interior spaces of that build-
ing. The Sound Lounge is a business lounge above
the restaurant and behind the stage of the concert
space, and so is acoustically themed. This inspires
the glass panels at the entrance to be electro-
luminesent graphic equalizers, the orbs above the
bar to emerge in waves, and the attention to sound
deadening in the rear space.
33. UDM Mosque Project
Studio Sunghera, Winter 12’
This project is the redesign of the current UDM Student Worship Space. The walls of the space could not be altered. The proposal featured a green
color scheme (the color of Islam), renovated shoe cupboards and ablution space. The worship space itself has a sliding glass wall, to provide segregated
spaces during worship or a unified space for club activities.
35. The Brightmoor Church
Studio Sunghera, Winter 12’
The Brightmoor Church is a proposed, youth-centric, Catholic church in the Bright-
moor Neighborhood. This proposal addresses the functional requirements of the Jesuit
Volunteer Corp ‘Clients’ and the aesthetic properties of the area.
38. Brush Park Art House
Studio Swift, Fall 12’
This project is an adaptive reuse of two dilapidated houses in the Brush Park Neighborhood. The connection between the two
houses, known as the ‘mansard twins’, is developed through the walkway, balcony, and the additions between and to the rear of
the buildings.

44. ‘Imperium Nova’ Concept Art
‘The Crimson Flame’-Forum, 10’
Imperium Nova is an online strategy game for which this concept art is developed. Shown are the governmental and diplomatic com-
pounds for the Egyptian and various Roman players.
45. ‘IN: Nations’ Concept Art
‘The Crimson Flame’-Forum, 11’
IN: Nations is the successor to Imperium Nova, set in the near future. This game’s Concept
art included governmental, diplomatic, and research buildings, organizational seals, and naval
units.
46. ‘IN: Space’ Concept Art
‘The Crimson Flame’-Forum, 12’
IN: Space was the successor to IN:Nations, set in the far future. The concept art for this game
focused more on space craft, but still included buildings and ground units.
