4. Celebrity• Some of the characters that are associated with the Thriller genres are actors like Samuel L Jackson,
Matt Damon, Tom Cruise, Liam Neeson, and Harrison Ford.

They’re associated with the genre as they are used to playing characters such as stalkers, innocent
victims and characters with dark backgrounds.
Narrative:
• Thrillers are often based around the genre of crime but it could be based on anything. It has chain
of events.
•
A lot of thrillers have a restricted narrative, questions and or riddles that would be left unanswered
until towards the end of the film.
•
Common methods and themes in crime thrillers are mainly captivities, revenge, kidnappings. More
common in mystery thrillers are investigations and the whodunit technique. In psychological
thrillers are mind games, psychological themes, stalking, confinement/death traps, and obsession.
Character types:
• In thrillers all the characters has different personality and characteristics. The basic conventions are
the masculine male, the scared and vulnerable one.

Some of the character types are convicts, criminals and stalkers.

The first consideration of where to place the camera should involve knowing what emotion it is, you can control the
intensity of that emotion by placing the camera close or far away from those eyes. A close-up will fill the screen with
emotion.
The camera should take on human qualities and roam around playfully looking for something suspicious in a room.
Staging & Setting:

The typical setting of a thriller is in a urban city. Usually the main colours that are used are grey, white and black to
emphasise the isolation. Thriller can also be set in a quiet village, where everyone leads poor and simple lives

The thriller genre are full of investigations with high ability skills.

Deaths, spine chilling murders and crime are inevitable, whether being from the protagonist or antagonists.

In addition to this, spies and detectives are the main conventions of the thriller genre.

The main scenes often contain intense drama and crime, allowing to be all the more intriguing.

Investigators or detectives usually have monotone tones in their speech.
High pitched, intense non-diegetic score music which correspond with the actions in the scenes.
Narrators have a mysterious, serious sounding tone to their voices.
