3. How is Usability Tested for a Mobile
Application
In order to test the usability of a mobile application, need
the 5 major concepts.
1. The Objectives of the Usability Test
This is to set the direction of usability. It defines, what questions do you want to answer
with usability test and what hypothesis do you want to set. Define the goals of Usability
by getting what the stakeholders already know and what they would like to know.
2. The Tasks that will be performed
The Tasks is users and application interaction. Set it so that users and applications
can look more like natural interactions.

There are a number of documents that you would need when conducting usability test.
You would typically need a consent from and a Post-test questionnaire.

The application informs the users of the following
things.
• Inform the warning spots on the road. For example, the
road is broken or it is becoming impossible to pass due to
natural disasters.
• Inform the road condition. For example, easy to slip due
to rain, snow is falling, the road surface is frozen.

application in Aizu Smart City situation
• Inform the traffic condition. For example, traffic
jams due to events, accidents, freezing of the
road surface.
For these informs, users can move safely,
without stress and delay.
8. Explain why this technology/apps is important
Winter in Aizu, it’s snowing a lot. The snow
becomes cause of a traffic jam and a delay of a
train. Some of student of worker is late to get to
the school or company. If we know what is road
condition of school or commuter route, where a
road is crowding, where a road is a safety, we
reduce accident caused snow.
9. Explain how future citizens in Aizuwakamatsu
would be able to use this technology?
Everyone in Aizu is able to watch a real-time
information from official mobile app easily. The
mobile app is using GPS, so it is able to show some
condition and risk spot around you that you want to
know. This app is notifying as mobile phone’s
notification when you going to go there.
10. How could this MOBILE PHONE technology/apps be special for
Aizuwakamatsu, considering the style of the city, its population, the
location, weather, transportation systems etc.?
Aizuwakamatsu is the city that is snow a lot and
promotes the smart city. In addition, Aizu is a small
city, however, some national route exists and it is a
lot of traffic so sometimes occurred traffic jam.
When it is snowing, that is more terrible.
Therefore, this app will be a special one for the
citizen of Aizuwakamatsu to reduce some accident
and more useful in life.
11. Explain why the technology and the product has a
feel-good factor and why Aizu citizen might like it?
This app is basically free and everyone are
able to watch any traffic information in real-
time whenever we want. In addition, it is
using GPS, we can watch traffic information
around yourself without input address . As a
result, we can watch it so easily.
12. Explain why the product ad the technology
are user-friendly?
We don’t necessary complicated
operation for watching information, even
if you at home or company or university.
The app is show you information around
you.

developing a connected smart city as in Aizu, perhaps?
The people in Aizu will consider
commuting or school route based on this
app information. It is connecting people
to a computer and people utilize the
information. This is the system of the
smart city.
14. What could be one problem with the technology and/or the
product that might pose a problem when used in the Aizu smart
city connected context?
The app gets information from a server, so it
is necessary to a strong server that is able to
process a lot of people request in same time.
In addition, it is necessary placement some
sensors in a lot of road point. Therefore, it
takes a lot of money and time and
technology.
15. What could be some of the usability techniques that
you could use to test the usability of the technology?
We are able to use video recording as
technic. We filming a person that using
this app and the app screen, and check
that the app is displaying apposite
information and the user is satisfying the
information.
