2. My name is Tom Wharton. I had long felt there
was a gap in the market for fine tailor-made
clothing as unique and individual as the wearer
but without the “Saville Row” price tag.
With this aim in mind I set out to explore the
fabric mills of England and Scotland looking for
beautiful and exciting fabrics.
In Yorkshire I found an expert team of cutters,
tailors and seamstresses who shared my dream.
In 2009 I founded Barrington Ayre Shirtmaker
& Tailor offering luxury affordable clothing to
our clients. Our bespoke garments range from
traditional classic to more contemporary styles
and we are proud to be “Made in England”.
I hope this brochure will inspire you and give
you an insight into my vision and the unique
personal service that we offer.

At Barrington Ayre we pride ourselves in
making quality individual tailor-made clothing
from your choice of fabric.
We work closely with you to create unique
garments, whether you are looking for a classic
business suit, shooting attire with working
shoulder pleats, brightly coloured trousers,
formal dress or even a pair of house shoes!
Our female clients select from our wide range
of beautiful, versatile fabrics to tailor-make
fabulous flattering clothing as unique as the
individual.

of our showroom in the Cotswolds, or take

4. Sourced from all over the British Isles our
quality fabrics showcase the very finest classic
and contemporary colours and designs.
We offer hundreds of fabrics, available in a
selection of weights and designs , perfect for
any suit, jacket or trouser.
Our extensive tweed selection aims to provide
fabrics not available on the high street, and
includes small mills found whilst fishing and
visiting Scotland.
At Barrington Ayre we also pride ourselves on
our comprehensive range of cashmere, flannel,
cotton, linen and corduroy.
Whatever the fabric, we ensure that each is of
the very highest quality.

5. At our workshops in Yorkshire most of our
cutters, tailors and seamstresses have worked in
the industry all their lives.
We are proud to say that all our suits, jackets,
trousers, country clothing, slippers, pyjamas,
dressing gowns, overcoats, hats and ladies
clothing are made right here in England and
carry the revered “Made in England” label.
For superior quality, flexibility and an exceptional
personal design service our bespoke shirts are
made in France, the home of “haute couture”.
No one makes tartan kilts and traditional dress
better than the Scottish which is why all our kilts,
tartan trousers and golf breeks are made using
traditional techniques in the Highlands.

We will work with you to design the perfect
bespoke traditional classic or contemporary
suit to match your lifestyle or a specific
occasion.
Whether it is a two piece, three piece,
double or single-breasted, lightweight or
heavier wool, your suit will be made for
you here, in England, in the style, fabric and
colour of your choice.
You can choose from personal extras such
as your choice of cuff button hole and lapel
hole stitching, to create a unique suit as
individual as you.

8. SHIRTS
Our range of bespoke shirts provide the perfect
fitting shirt with fabrics to suit your lifestyle.
Whether you are after a commuter shirt, a hard
wearing work shirt, fashion shirts or summer
shirts, we can accommodate your needs.
With each shirt hand crafted and cut for each
individual you will be certain of the perfect fit.

9. SHIRT SMART
Our revolutionary new online bespoke shirt
subscription service. Simply select the style
you want, send us your measurements and
your fabric choice and we will send you back
your unique tailor-made shirt, all from just
£1 a day.
Use our online self-measurement guide,
be measured up by our visiting shirt tailors
‘The Shirtettes’, alternatively send in one of
your own shirts and we will measure that! It
couldn’t be easier.

From bright cotton to classic tweed,
moleskin or corduroy we will work with
you to create the perfect traditional or
less conventional pair.

13. COUNTRY WEAR
As country wear specialists we make the
finest shooting and field sports clothing here
in England.
Whether you are after a classic two or three
piece tweed suit or sports jacket, four or
five piece shooting suit with full working
shoulder pleats, bellows and hand warm
pockets, a field coat, hat, breeks, hunt
clothing or a jacket for eventing - whatever
your sporting or country clothing need
we have the fabric and cut to suit your
personality.

14. OUTERWEAR
Barrington Ayre’s stylish range of made
to order Field Coats and Rain Coats are
available for both men and women.
Our Teflon coated tweeds incorporate a
waterproof and breathable membrane
inter-liner for additional warmth and
protection. Made using traditional and
specialised skills, advanced technology is
combined with the best of British Tailoring
to ensure that the discriminating wearer
is both dry and comfortable whilst the
garment retains the cut, style and finish of
a traditional tailored coat.
Made to your measurements and from your
choice of tweed lining and detailing, our
bonded cotton raincoats are lightweight,
durable and stylish - perfect for all year wear.

Made in England, using the finest leather,
suede and sheepskin, we can make and
design any item of clothing that you wish.
From classic leather jackets, to sheepskin
coats, from leather jackets to suede dresses,
our skilled pattern cutters can design or copy
anything you desire.

19. NIGHTWEAR
From day to night – choose from our
luxurious range of quality classic nightwear;
pyjamas, dressing gowns and slippers or
house shoes.
All these are made here in England using
traditional methods in a wide range of
sumptuous fabrics.

20. Hand crafted in England, our children’s
ponchos are available in tweed, linen and
cotton, selected from the finest fabrics.

21. LADIES CLOTHING
To complete our range we provide beautiful
and flattering bespoke trousers, skirts, shirts
and jeans for women. Our made-to-order
collection also includes jackets and coats, as
ever, available in a wide choice of inspiring,
quality fabrics and styles.

22. Our showroom is situated in Cirencester in the heart
of the Cotswolds. Here we house samples of many
of our designs as well as our extensive collection of
exciting fabrics.
We provide a full alteration service and are happy to
alter garments that are not our own.
Barrington Ayre is open throughout the week, evenings
and weekends by appointment.
VISITING TAILOR SERVICE
Our unique visiting tailoring service is available across
the UK and abroad where we are able to meet you in
your home or elsewhere at your convenience.
We are pleased to offer an estate service where we
come and measure your keepers and staff to make
their shooting suits for the season.
AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
When we meet we will chat through the style, cut and
fabric best suited to you and your bespoke garment.
You will then see a range of possible designs and styles
to inspire you before choosing your perfect cloth and
colour.
We offer a full initial consultation, fitting at baste
stage, along with a final fitting and any additional
fittings needed to ensure that you are 100% happy
with your unique new garment.
