Innovation Forum is a London-based company focused on events and publishing. We focus only on
Technology, Innovation, and Sustainability to drive investment in Emerging Markets

What we do: Innovation Forum produces high quality, high level events and analysis about the
opportunities for companies, investors and governments in emerging markets around the world. In
2014 we are focusing on two key countries: Ghana and Turkey, and are also working on events and
analysis for other countries, and specific industries for 2014 and 2015.
We research, organise, market and host conferences, alongside our sponsors in both London and in
emerging markets around the world. We publish analysis, interviews and Q&A’s with leading players
from companies, the investment community, analysts and government figures.
Who we are: We are a start-up company fuelled by decades of experience and backed by highly
successful private investors in London. Our key employees are:

Tobias Webb
Founder of Ethical Corporation magazine and conferences since 2001, Tobias has started two multimillion pound turnover events and publishing companies since 1999. He has provided policy advice
and responsible business strategy to the current UK Government and Prime Minister, and has served
on the board of a £30 million turnover events business. He is a well-known speaker and facilitator at
conferences and meetings around the world and spends several months a year researching and
visiting emerging economies. He lectures at the University of London on Responsible Business.
On top of Toby’s success in the broader business world, he also has extensive experience in the
conference space. Having founded Ethical Corporation in 2001, Toby has since built the Responsible
Business Summit series into the largest CSR and sustainability conference in Europe. Toby has also
led and been involved with a number of training and advisory services to companies around the
world, including Alliance Boots, Sainsbury’s, Unilever, Heathrow Airport, Repsol, Intersport and
many others.

Paloma Cid
With over 15 years’ experience in her field, Paloma is an expert in programme development and
government relations in the African region, particularly Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana and
Angola. She has managed numerous major projects to promote investment in oil and gas,
sustainable development and local content. Between 2006 and 2012, she produced over 20 African
events including the 3rd APPA Congress, 4 editions of Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG), the inaugural
Practical Nigerian Content in Port Harcourt and several large events in Ghana and Equatorial Guinea.
Paloma works very closely with high ranking officials in oil producing countries, including Ministers
of Energy and Chairmen of National Oil Companies as well as senior executives in the international
oil and gas industry.
Born and raised in Madrid, Paloma moved to Manila after graduation and worked first at IBM and
then at the Spanish Embassy where she managed a two year programme of cultural activities.
Following her move to London in 2000, Paloma developed international events in a variety of sectors
including technology, public sector and corporate finance, and between 2005 and 2012 she worked
at CWC and specialised in oil and gas and emerging markets.
Wayne Dunn
Wayne is an entrepreneur and an award-winning global expert on CSR. Consulting for major
industries, governments and international organizations he has worked on over 60 CSR projects
spanning six continents and 2 decades including projects in over a dozen African countries. His
projects have won prestigious global awards including the first private sector winner of a World Bank
Global Development Innovation Award and the Star of Africa Award. They have been developed into
case studies by Stanford Business School and other Universities and are widely recognized for their
ground-breaking nature and overall success.
Wayne has also negotiated and financed complex resource projects in Africa, one of which was
featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal. He has organized and produced numerous
international events and missions and is a Professor of Practice in CSR at McGill University where he
is a founding member of the Leadership Council for McGill’s Institute for the Study of International
Development (ISID). He is frequent lecturer worldwide on business and economic issues and also
provides volunteer support to numerous local, national and international organizations. This
includes 4 years as the Vice-Chairman of the Canadian Council on Africa, on the Board for the
University of Winnipeg’s Master’s Program in Development Practice in Indigenous Development and
ongoing support to Ghana’s University for Development Studies. He is a Stanford Sloan Fellow and
holds an M.Sc. in Management from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Oliver Bamford
Oliver graduated from Durham University with a B.Sc. in Maths and Economics. He has since picked
up a great deal of experience in the events industry whilst leading the commercial side of Ethical
Corporation and Useful Social Media, before helping found an events company in the marketing
industry. Throughout this time, Oliver ran the largest European conference in the CSR and
sustainability industry – the Responsible Business Summit – which attracts CEOs and C-suite
management from the world’s largest brands. Oliver is also responsible for the premier social media
conference in North America – the Corporate Social Media Summit. Having worked with a range of
clients from Fortune 500 companies to boutique agencies, Oliver has a wealth of experience in
working in and around the events industry to help partners meet their broader business objectives.

Gulnara Akbasheva
Gulnara has been Deputy Director at Insurance Investment Russia, Manager at Russian-Polish Center
for Dialogue and Understanding and worked at the Communication and Information sector at
UNESCO City University London. She has a Master's degree in Transnational Media and Globalisation
from City University London and in International Relations and Affairs at the Institute of Law at
Bashkir State University.

Global Advisory Board

Innovation Forum has assembled a global advisory board to help steer our work, events, analysis and
agenda content. The board is virtual and is consulted regularly by telephone and teleconference for
their views on our current work, and what’s next on the agenda for Innovation Forum.

Africa: Jonathan Berman
Jonathan Berman is an author, speaker and consultant. He is a senior fellow at Columbia University’s
Vale Center and senior advisor to Dalberg, a strategic advisory firm focused on frontier markets with
ten offices worldwide. He previously served as partner and director of Dalberg’s corporate practice.
He has advised numerous global Fortune 500 companies on entry and operations in emerging and
frontier markets, focusing on the political and economic dynamics that drive shareholder value.
Jonathan is the author, most recently, of “Success in Africa: CEO Insights from a Continent on the
Rise”, featuring the views of global and African CEOs on the unique dynamics of fast-growth
markets. His views have appeared in The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal CFO Journal,
Financial Times, Bloomberg and Harvard Business Review, where he writes a regular blog. A member
of the Council on Foreign Relations, he is graduate of Yale University and UC Berkeley.
South Korea: Laxmi Nakarmi
Laxmi Nakarmi is managing partner of Saturn Communications in Seoul. Previously he was Seoul's
bureau chief for Asiaweek magazine and Businessweek.

India: Rajesh Tiwari
Rajesh is Director General & CEO of the Indian Centre for Corporate Social responsibility (ICCSR), a
Mumbai and Delhi based non-profit group which advises companies and promote corporate social
responsibility across India and world-wide. Prior to founding ICCSR Rajesh was co-founder and joint
managing director of Tikona Digital Networks Pvt. Ltd. Prior to that he was Group Director Reliance
ADAG, where he oversaw business development and corporate affairs. Rajesh also served as Group
President of Reliance Industries Limited. He was responsible for providing core inputs in various
businesses, including its mega Telecom project of laying 200,000 kms of Optical Fibre all over India in
3 ½ years (a world record).

Indonesia: Arian Ardie
Arian Ardie is Chief Operating Officer of Terrasys Energy Ltd. He is also Governor & Second Vice
President of AmCham Indonesia. Arian is an expert in strategic risk management, specializing in
political, social and environmental risk mitigation and management. He has undertaken significant
work in the field of compliance with international CSR standards such as the Global Compact,
Voluntary Principles on Human Rights and Security, World Bank Standards on Resettlement and High
Conservation Value Forest assessments. He has strong experience in the extractives industries,
mining, oil and gas as well as agriculture and aquaculture.

Middle East: Nadine Hawa
Nadine Hawa is the former presenter and producer of leading CNBC Middle East business news show
Business Arabia with frequent appearances on CNBC flagship shows Squawk Box and World Wide
Exchange reporting live on the MENA region. More recently she is involved in sustainable
development and eco-innovation work with distinguished organizations including the UNEP, the
RSPO sustainable palm oil debate site, as editor, and is a regular contributor to London-based
magazine Ethical Corporation.

Turkey: Tayfun Zaman and Güray Karacar
Tayfun Zaman is Secretary General at Ethics and Reputation Society, “TEİD”, a non-profit
organization aiming to develop and encourage adherence to universally recognized business ethics
principles and disseminating those in Turkish Business environment. Previously Tayfun was Vice
General Manager, TEM Shipping and Trading Inc, where Tayfun was responsible of the overall
management of the largest, privately owned passengership and RoRo fleet of Turkey, trading in the
Blacksea and the Mediterranean.He is a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics,
the OECD Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the ACN Business Integrity
Advisory Board, the UNGC Turkey Anti-Corruption Working group and is Representative for Turkey
for the Global Ethics Network.

Güray Karacar is Coordinator of the Corporate Governance Association of Turkey (TKYD). He
graduated from Marmara University Communication Sciences, worked for major groups and led a
number of national programs and EU projects in Turkey.
As the Coordinator of TKYD since 2003, he has coordinated and overseen the execution of a range of
corporate governance initiatives throughout Turkey. Both organizing and presenting at governance
workshops and related events, Karacar has developed a firmly grounded knowledge of the principles
of corporate governance and the unique needs of Turkey’s private sector in seeking to uphold them.
He served as National Program Coordinator for United Nations Development Program from 2005 –
2007, as Project Coordinator and Steering Committee Member to Center for International Private
Enterprise since 2005. He is a member of TUSIAD (Turkish Businessmen and Industrialists Association)
Corporate Governance Committee and International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN).

Nigeria & Bangladesh: Dr Peter Davis
Dr Peter Davis works with companies and governments to help them understand and manage
complex societal, political and ethical challenges. Between 2006-2009, Dr Davis co-chaired David
Cameron’s Working Group on Responsible Business Practice. He has worked extensively with the
Government of Sweden on engaging the corporate sector in overseas development policy, and is
now working with them on the role of the private sector in conflict. He is also working as political
economy advisor to the British Department of International Development on a business
environment reform project in Nigeria. His book, Corporations, Global Governance and Post-Conflict
Reconstruction was published by Routledge in 2012. He is also a member of visiting faculty of Henley
Business School.

South America: Ignacio Gavilan
Ignacio Gavilan has considerable experience in sustainable supply chains, stakeholder engagement &
government relations in international markets. He is currently providing strategic advice and
developing consultancy projects for M&As in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, marine
services and extractive (mining, oil&gas) companies in fast developing markets. Most recently he
managed the reputational impacts for mining operations (environmental/social) of Anglo American
in Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil under political regime changes, risks of asset nationalisation,
NGO/civil society campaigns. Ignacio developed the Global Sustainability Strategy for BP Biofuels
with an emphasis on management systems and standards development for different feedstocks.
Implementation of inclusive business models that enabled development among the communities
where biofuels are produced. He also has eight years of supply chain management experience with
the McDonald’s Corporation and Intertek, an international consulting firm.

Who we are: We are a start-up company fuelled by decades of experience and backed by highly successful private investors in London. Our key employees are: Tobias Webb Founder of Ethical Corporation magazine and conferences since 2001, Tobias has started two multimillion pound turnover events and publishing companies since 1999. He has provided policy advice and responsible business strategy to the current UK Government and Prime Minister, and has served on the board of a £30 million turnover events business. He is a well-known speaker and facilitator at conferences and meetings around the world and spends several months a year researching and visiting emerging economies. He lectures at the University of London on Responsible Business. On top of Toby’s success in the broader business world, he also has extensive experience in the conference space. Having founded Ethical Corporation in 2001, Toby has since built the Responsible Business Summit series into the largest CSR and sustainability conference in Europe. Toby has also led and been involved with a number of training and advisory services to companies around the world, including Alliance Boots, Sainsbury’s, Unilever, Heathrow Airport, Repsol, Intersport and many others. She has managed numerous major projects to promote investment in oil and gas, sustainable development and local content. Between 2006 and 2012, she produced over 20 African events including the 3rd APPA Congress, 4 editions of Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG), the inaugural Practical Nigerian Content in Port Harcourt and several large events in Ghana and Equatorial Guinea. Born and raised in Madrid, Paloma moved to Manila after graduation and worked first at IBM and then at the Spanish Embassy where she managed a two year programme of cultural activities. Following her move to London in 2000, Paloma developed international events in a variety of sectors including technology, public sector and corporate finance, and between 2005 and 2012 she worked at CWC and specialised in oil and gas and emerging markets. Wayne Dunn Wayne is an entrepreneur and an award-winning global expert on CSR. Consulting for major industries, governments and international organizations he has worked on over 60 CSR projects spanning six continents and 2 decades including projects in over a dozen African countries. His projects have won prestigious global awards including the first private sector winner of a World Bank Global Development Innovation Award and the Star of Africa Award. They have been developed into case studies by Stanford Business School and other Universities and are widely recognized for their ground-breaking nature and overall success. Wayne has also negotiated and financed complex resource projects in Africa, one of which was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal. He has organized and produced numerous international events and missions and is a Professor of Practice in CSR at McGill University where he is a founding member of the Leadership Council for McGill’s Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID). He is frequent lecturer worldwide on business and economic issues and also provides volunteer support to numerous local, national and international organizations. He graduated from Marmara University Communication Sciences, worked for major groups and led a number of national programs and EU projects in Turkey.
