  1. Matrices & It’s Applications Clarissa Dsouza Dadasaheb Khade Jaydeep Tahashildar Merwyn Sequeira
  2. What are Matrices: In mathematics, a matrix (plural matrices) is a rectangular array of numbers, symbols, or expressions, arranged in rows and columns. The individual items in a matrix are called its elements or entries.
  3. Application of Matrices  In physics related applications, matrices are applied in the study of electrical circuits, quantum mechanics and optics.  One of the most important usages of matrices in computer side applications are encryption of message codes.  In geology, matrices are used for taking seismic surveys.
  4. Application of Matrices  Matrices are used in representing the real world data’s like the traits of people’s population, habits, etc.  Matrices are used in calculating the gross domestic products in economics which eventually helps in calculating the goods production efficiently.  In robotics and automation, matrices are the base elements for the robot movements. The movements of the robots are programmed with the calculation of matrices’ rows and columns. The inputs for controlling robots are given based on the calculations from matrices.
  5. Problem  A supplier supplies coffee beans to the below shops A, B and C in bags of; - 5kg at cost price of ₹10.60 - 10kg at cost price of ₹17.20 - 15kg at cost price of ₹ 22.50 5 Kg at ₹ 10.60 per bag. 10 Kg at ₹ 17.20 per bag. 15 Kg at ₹ 22.50 per bag. Shop A 50 Bags 100 Bags 30 Bags Shop B 60 Bags 150 Bags 40 Bags Shop C 80 Bags 200 Bags 70 Bags
  6. 1st Question: Q) Find the total cost price of the beans delivered to each shop? 50 100 80 60 150 40 80 200 70 10.60 17.20 22.50 3 x 3 3x 1 Matrices Multiplication Rule P[ ] mxn Q[ ] mxn P = Q =

  8. Q) In Jan 2014, Shop A, B and C received 15, 10 and 5 such deliveries respectively. Find the total number of 5kg,10Kg and 15 kg bags delivered in Jan 2014? 15 10 5 50 100 80 60 150 40 80 200 70 X = Y = 1 x 3 3 x 3 15 x 50 + 10 x 60 + 5 x 80 15 x 100 + 10 x 150 + 5 x 200 15 x 80 + 10 x 40 + 5 x 70
  9.  Ans: The total number of 5kg, 10kg and 15kg bags delivered in Jan 2014 is 1750 bags, 4000 bags and 1950 bags. 1750 4000 1950

  1.   •      The matrix calculus is used in the generalization of analytical notions like exponentials and derivatives to their higher dimensions.  With these encryptions only, internet functions are working and even banks could work with transmission of sensitive and private data’s.   •      •    •
  2. Physics. In the calculation of battery power outputs, resistor conversion of electrical energy into another useful energy, these matrices play a major role in calculations.  Computers based applications Matrices and their inverse matrices are used for a programmer for coding or encrypting a message.  A message is made as a sequence of numbers in a binary format for communication and it follows code theory for solving.  Hence with the help of matrices, those equations are solved.  Geology Matrices are used for plotting graphs, statistics and also to do scientific studies in almost different fields.
