Welcome and thank you for attending today’s presentation on mobile trends. My name is Sasha England and I am the MLS manager at Smarter Agent, a mobile real estate technology company.
So as you may know, mobile is here and mobile is now. First I want to touch upon why mobile should matter with you.
And since mobile app usage is continuing to grow, so is the traffic.
There was a 65% growth in data traffic from 2013-2014.
By 2019, the data traffic is going to grow 10x from what it is today.
And that leads me into why apps have now dominated mobile web, and are the new trend. The fact that apps make lives easier means that users like to use them. So when your clients are out there using their apps, they are doing so because it makes their lives that much easier.
Apps command 86% of the average US mobile consumer’s time, or 2 hrs and 19 minutes per day.
Mobile web continued to decline, averaging just 14% of the US mobile consumer’s time, or 22 minutes per day.
Apps create a different experience then mobile web, utilize phone features for a better user interface. For example when you go to your Facebook app and want to post a picture, you can utilize your phone’s camera feature right there. If you go to your real estate app and find a house you love and want to know how to get there, the device will use your phone’s map feature to get you there. And when you are ready to contact your agent, you can simply click on a contact button which utilizes the phone feature of your mobile device. Apps really are meant to make the mobile experience that much better.
Connects you family friends and network
US consumer spends 2 hours and 42 min. per day on mobile devices (up 2.5% from 2013)
Apps like Pinterest, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook have received world wide adoption. These apps are similar in that they allow their users to share photos. Just by allowing users to share photos to specified people, they have changed the way we now communicate, share experiences, interests and develop relationships. These apps can help you in real estate because they allow you to connect to your clients one to one or in groups.
Another important reason why mobile matters to you and everyone around you is because it makes lives easier and more efficient. When you woke up this morning, did you check the weather via your weather app or did you go to your browser and type in www.weather.com? Think about how your clients feel when they are out driving around a neighborhood looking for a house, do they want to go to their browser, type in the address of the house they are standing in front of to get that listing information or do you want them to go to their real estate app and get instant gratification right then and there?
Now that I just graduated am in the process of becoming a realtor, I know that there are things I can do to help me become a more successful agent then the next agent and I do believe that being a mobile agent is the most important. People have become more visual and pictures and sharing has become more and more important.
A lot of sharing a lot of communications with the apps, here are some interesting ways people are doing so:
There are tons of apps out there that will make your live as an agent that much better. You can also encourage your clients to use apps to help build those relationships and help continue communication and increase your leads and sales.
For example, here are some great photo sharing apps that will help you and you clients see the possibilty in homes:
Snapseed: user-friendly photo app with advanced editing tools
Takes: allows the user to take photos and have them turned into video
360 Panorama: This app allows the user to take panoramic photos of any scene
Diptic: Most advanced photo collage app, combine photos to create before-and-after images or more in-depth collages
No longer does real estate need to be stale, the more you do, the better tools you use, the more fun you have with it, I believe the better return you will have and the great thing out there is most apps are free.
Then you have apps that can enhance your open houses.
Capture and manage leads
Photos and videos at broker listing
Set the mood with Spotify or Pandora
Interesting photos and fun videos help gain repeat visits to your social media sites, your photos and videos should be more than just the standard listing photos

Use mobile to engage with your clients in real time on social media
FaceBook mobile gets 10x the activity as web access
“More people are starting to understand that mobile is a great opportunity for us,” Zuckerberg said. “Today, there is no argument. Facebook is a mobile company.”
People are getting more apps to help make tools to edit/create video and share, that is what you need in re to be able to take a photo, edit and share.
So let’s wrap this up by going over my favorite app out their, your MLS app!
As of May 2014, the MLS app is seeing:
So if you are not sure what the MLS app is, this is it, this is what it looks like, they just recently updated their logo and the graphics are now HD!
The app will allow you and your clients to easily search for listings by
GPS
City
State
Zip code
MLS #
And the app is social media friendly
Users can share listings on Facebook and Twitter as well as send listings via email and text
Details can include:
Picture of the property
Summary
Realtor information
Mobile web link to single property page
This ties back into what we mentioned before, that it is important to be able to share listings, engage your clients and be accessible by giving them instant gratification and access to great tools.
And the great thing that your MLS did for you, is that everytime someone like me, who wants to move to CA, downloads the app, finds a home I love, I can easily click on the contact button and email or call the listing agent, meaning that just by your MLS having an app, you get free leads! And I am now really considering moving to CA now that I have had a chance to experience it a few times, so don’t be surprised if one day you get a call from me!
But what is even more exciting is that we have some new and exciting features to announce!!
Ability to search Open Houses by specific date
New iPad app with slide out grid view
Coming this June: Search by specific statues
