3. By Faith We Stand
How can a Christian stand in these days against the throes of darkness? Do you
know?
Is God even relevant anymore? Do you know?
These true testimonials answer these questions in a very real way. The people are
just like you and I. They still struggle to find their way, but… God is very real to
each of these. They found a way from the pit of darkness to find the Light of His
Salvation. They know the way of darkness – all too well. But… They also know
the Way, the Truth, and the Life, found in Jesus Christ.
The process of standing for Christ in testimony comes from John 1: 1-27. As with
John the Baptist, none of us are worthy outside of Christ. As in verse five – “And
the light shines in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” This is our
purpose before the Lord – to shine a little light into the darkness of your life and
then rely on the Holy spirit in faith – By Faith We Stand!
Follow along as each tells it the way it really is and think for a moment. Who do I
know in darkness who is seeking His Light? When you answer that question,
give him or her this collection and watch and see what the Spirit of the relevant
and Living God will do…

A Journey from Darkness to Light
Who you are.
I answer this last as it is the most difficult to answer for fear of self pridefulness
or sounding ‘cliché’. I battle just leaving it blank as in and of myself I am
nothing. A simple blue jean and t-shirt northern Wisconsin farm boy who has
received more Mercy and Grace than I deserve. Humbled beyond imagination.
Brought to my knees, to be made new. Lost in darkness to be found in Light.
Blind but made to see. This life is so temporal, I strive to live for His Glory, for
outside of Jesus Christ and His Glory I most surely would be nothing.
My life in darkness was
My life before Christ was okay by worldly standards. 2 jobs, wife, children, well
liked by peers, a good athlete. Yet the order of my life,( me first, friends second,
job third, family fourth ), was wrong. It was sex, drugs, and rock and roll. All
about me. No God, no faith, no Christian background or friends. And yet I was
blind. I was failing as a husband and father. Although I thought I was doing well,
by God’ standards, I was woefully lost. It took losing all I had, brought to a place
where I could not rely on myself for anything, to look to the only place left. Our
Creator, the only true place of Peace, Light, Victory. I give praise to Him for all I
am today.
How I knew that darkness was wrong and how I found Christ instead.

5. I can’t say that I knew darkness was wrong or that I ‘found’ Christ. I was who I
was – a product of what I knew and my surroundings and upbringing. It took a
very dark time in my life to ever look to the Light. A divorce and struggling
business brought me to a ministry helping those going through divorce. It took
actually opening a Bible and understanding God’ Word and His promises that
drew me to Him. Many powerful things began to happen which I could not
explain. It was God Himself, showing me He is who He says He is.
What Christ did for me then
His death and resurrection has given me the ability to rest in Him and overcome
what I once was, ( a sinner ). At a point where I couldn’t rely on myself for
anything, He took my burden and gave me a Peace, a place to rest, a purpose and
worth greater than my worldly surroundings. Now, my battles are not my own. I
am never alone!! I have a Lord and Savior who has conquered death, overcome
the world, and promises everlasting life!!!
What Christ is doing for me NOW.
The ongoing work and guidance of the Holy spirit, keeps me focused on eternal
things. He gives me the strength to not go back to who I was, and has changed
my heart from an, ‘it’s all about me’, mentality to an, ‘it’s all about Him’,
mentality. Through Him I found the ability to forgive, what the true definition of
Love is, and a Peace – an indescribable Peace – that carries me through each and
every trial and tribulation this life brings. My heart is to help others and Glorify
God in all I do and am!!
Here is what Christ can do for you.
Christ Jesus, God Himself, had the power and authority to stop His crucifixion
and leave us to eternal destruction. But yet, He didn’t!! Instead, He submitted
Himself to the most cruel death devised by man – the Cross – that we, you and I,
can have a personal relationship with our Creator – for eternity. There is no
greater Love!! And to top it all off – three days later He rose from the dead!!!
Death has been conquered!!! The penalty for my sins paid for. Victory has been
won!!! Trust, have faith, and rest in Him – His yoke is light!!!
Are you ready to receive Christ? Here is the way out of darkness.

whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:6-8 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for
the ungodly. For one would hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for
the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own
love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Acts 16: 30-31 Sirs. What must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe in the
Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved.
I John 5: 10-13 The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in
himself: the one who does not believe Gad has made Him a liar, because he has
not believed in the witness that God had borne concerning His Son. And the
witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He
who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have
the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of
God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life.
Please pray with me – Oh God, I know now that I am a sinner and lost forever in
death. I repent of my sin and believe that you can save me. Please forgive me my
sins and give me eternal life forever.

A Journey From Darkness To Light
Who you are.
I am just a beggar, trying to tell another beggar where to find bread. Through
Christ I am not a worthless no good sinner. I am a saint, who sometimes sins.
My life in darkness was
My dark life consisted of extreme selfishness. My life was centered around the
next fix. I believed the lie that being drunk and high was the best thing for me. I
believed the lie that all my problems were too big to deal with, so staying under
the influence of substances was the answer to cope with my hopeless life. I didn’t
love myself, so I was trying to destroy myself.
How I knew that darkness was wrong and how I found Christ instead.
I knew deep down that it was wrong using substances. I suffered consequences
with the law and my health. I began to realize that I was not created to live in
darkness and selfish desires. I surrendered to the Team Challenge faith based
treatment center in 2005. I accepted Christ into my life while I was there. God
began to heal me from the inside out. I also realized that I had to stop believing
the lies from the enemy. The problem was not me, but the lies I believed. The
gospel changed my way of thinking. The gospel became, ‘Good News’. Jesus
said, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” If the truth sets us
free, then what keeps us in bondage? Lies! The devil is the father of lies. If the
devil can get you to believe a lie, he can control your life. We need only to
believe in the cleansing work of Christ.

9. What Christ did for me then
I was lost but now am found. Reading the Bible and memorizing scripture is what
changed the way I perceived myself and others. Jesus died for me on the cross, so
all of my sins would be forgiven. He loves me more than anyone ever could and
has a plan for my life. The spirit of God began to change my thoughts, words,
and deeds. A transformation and a renewing of my mind took place. I
Corinthians 6:19-20 is my ‘ahah’ verse. Or do you not know that your body is a
temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you
are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God
in your body.
What Christ is doing for me NOW.
I can honestly say that I never had the desire to want to help anyone with drug and
alcohol dependency. My thoughts were… Too bad, so sad for you. God healed
my past transgressions and gave me hope to live and face lives challenges sober.
I now have a burning desire to help those who are lost and need someone to talk
to. God pulled me out of the dark world I was living and gave me a hope and a
future.

12. C My Testimony
Who you are. I’m a wife, a mother of two adult sons and two school age girls. I
work part time outside the home. We also home school the two youngest.
My life in darkness was. There was no hope, (I thought). I knew that I was a
sinner because I went to a Catholic Church. I never recalled hearing about God’s
love for me and most importantly, how Jesus died for my sins! I always had a
conscience of right and wrong. I was for the most part a ‘good girl’ until I started
to drink as a teen. My choices after alcohol led me to feel shame and dirty. I
knew some of the ten commandments and broke them with the idea of – I am a
humble person and again, God is shaking His fist in disgust at me. Of course, this
previous statement was a lie from the devil.
How I knew that darkness was wrong and how I found Christ instead. When
I was told in 2014 that Jesus died for me, I was not immediately aware of His
Salvation. It went from my head, (knowledge), to my heart one day as I was in a
family crisis. It was and still is the best news that I’ve ever heard. When I heard
that Jesus Christ died for all of my sins and I was forgiven, I wanted to scream
from the top of the rooftop. My favorite verse is Romans 8:28 – And we know
that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to
those who are called according to His purpose.
What Christ did for me then. God makes beautiful things out of the dust. NO
sinner is too bad for God’s Grace and Love. He is forgiveness as far as the east is

13. from the west. I’m here to say that God is able to take away your want/needs to –
swear, drink alcohol, smoke, be promiscuous, and etc. Ask Him. The joy of the
Lord is my Strength. Eternity is a long time and I get to spend it with Jesus in
heaven.
What Christ is doing for me now. Jesus Christ is still taking and shaping me
more in His image. I’ve always cared for people but now He gives me boldness
to love and pray for strangers. He has given me a new heart toward my husband.
He has allowed me to use my past to help others.
Here is what Christ can do for you. My prayer is that whomever is reading this
will know that the Lord God will become your Savior and Lord.. That you will
believe and become saved! Trust Him moment by moment. Let your chains of
whatever you carry come off in Jesus name. I want to see you and spend eternity
in heaven with you, the reader of my story! Satan will try to convince you that
you are okay, but God says he lures you too much to stay in your sin. Are you
weary? Are you angry and tired? Read Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is
upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted.
He has sent me to bind up the broken hearts, to proclaim liberty to captives, and
freedom to prisoners.
