Temperance Lance-Council (or Lancecouncil) is a singer-songwriter in Los Angeles, CA. As a 3-year-old, she began singing to Motown tunes made famous by the Supremes, and many of the other artists at "Hitsville U.S.A." Her mother taught her three-part harmony, and sang with her, as she taught her about famous crooners like Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke ... while her father raved about the now iconic, Tina Turner. As a small-town Southerner growing up in the church, she sang in the children's choir; and later in her high school's concert choir for two years as a soprano, where practices began at 7 a.m. sharp. She loved performing, but credits her mother for help with those brutal 5:30 a.m. wake-up calls. Years later, and while living in Woodland Hills, California, she cut a few demos, and started/fronted her own band – which also included her sister. It was during that time that she worked at Warner Bros. Records and met Prince (an encounter that still leaves her speechless). She kept up with the R&B charts and the "glam-rockers," as she grew up listening to everybody from Dolly Parton (whom her mother just loved), to Elvis, Barry Manilow, Helen Reddy, Chaka Kahn, The Oak Ridge Boys and anything Southern Rock.
