VILLAGES OF INDONESIA IN NUMBERS The village is a legal community unit that has a territorial boundary authorized to regulate and manage their own affairs, the interests of the local community based on community initiatives, origin rights, and/or traditional rights recognized and respected in the government system of the Republic of Indonesia. Number of Villages in Indonesia 74.961 Population in Villages (48% of Indonesia Total Population) 130. 000.000 Percentage of villages having BUMDES (Village-Owned Enterprises) 52 % Average Growth of Villages in Indonesia 12 % Based on the projection of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the Indonesian population in 2018 reached 265 million. Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDES, Badan Usaha Milik Desa) is a village business unit managed by the village government. The village government can form village-owned enterprises in accordance with the needs and potential of the village. The management of village-owned enterprises consists of the village government and the local village community. "One factor in increasing national economic growth is caused by economic growth in rural areas with an average economic growth of 12 percent. The level of economic growth in rural areas cannot be separated from the existence of village funds allocated directly to the villages," Village Minister, " 2017.
