Through this article I learned one main thing, that trying new things might be hard at first, not only to adjust but to be able to fix the “kinks” in the new thing that you are investing a lot of your time in to make life and your students life more accessible and a new easier way for them to learn. This article is Geoffery Fletcher’s last article as director of T.H.E. Journal, he chose to “look at the digital revolution’s past and future impact on education.” Ed Warnshuisfounded T.H.E. in 1972 seeing that technology could have an impact on education even with just simple projection slides. Fletcher has tried to continue Warnshuis tradition of finding new ways to explore and develop technology in the classroom.  Even though he feels like the “new” technologies of tomorrow have become todays “norm” he is still optimistic that the teachers and administrators will keep pushing forward and develop new and more innovative ways to teach in the classroom. This article is a great farewell article by Fletcher, it shows and inspires me to not only move on from a point in my life, but also it helped me realize that an impact on student should always be a priority of the people who are leading and developing new ways for student to learn. Wendy Chretien poses this question at the beginning of her article “What is you could turn your district’s licensed wireless spectrum into a broadband network that benefits not only your students, but also the surrounding community?” She then talks about how not only this is possible, it is being done! Chretien also talks about leasing a wireless spectrum, since the deadline for schools and school corporations is running out of time before the May, 2011 deadline. She also talks about how curtain areas are offering a cash incentive, since it would not only benefit the school but also the surrounding areas! Chretien poses a great question at the beginning of this article that really made me start thinking about all of the different ways that technology is being used throughout not only our classrooms but also our communities. Just thinking about all of the new devices that are constantly being created makes me excited to see what the future of technology in education has to offer. Wendy Chretien poses this question at the beginning of her article “What is you could turn your district’s licensed wireless spectrum into a broadband network that benefits not only your students, but also the surrounding community?” She then talks about how not only this is possible, it is being done! Just thinking about all of the new devices that are constantly being created makes me excited to see what the future of technology in education has to offer.
