2. Why MentorMe?
MentorMe is a formal mentoring program. It is designed
specifically to assist Mentees in finding a suitable Mentor with
the experience and expertise to guide them through a structured
program. A structured program is vital in assisting the Mentee
to realise and achieve their goals.
A Mentor is someone who provides you with the time, support,
encouragement and positive reinforcement to assist you in
achieving your aspirations and goals. A Mentor is someone
you can rely on for guidance based on their own professional
experience and expertise.
A good Mentor is rare and difficult to find. Legal Network
is dedicated to matching up the ideal Mentor and Mentee,
ensuring a tailored program is followed and the appropriate
guidance is applied, which ultimately makes for a successful,
long-term relationship.
Aim
The aim of MentorMe is to match Mentors and Mentees with
similar fields of interest or similar roles in order to assist in
professional development and career opportunities.
Objectives
The objectives of MentorMe are as follows:
Ensuring the Mentee’s desired goals and aspirations of the
program are met
Identifying and enhancing the Mentee’s professional
development and growth areas
Assisting the Mentor in achieving further mentoring skills
including the provision of feedback, communication and
interpersonal skills
Assisting the Mentor in achieving personal and professional
satisfaction by contributing to the profession
3. Benefits of Joining the Program
Whether you’re a mentor or mentee, the benefits of joining
MentorMe are personally and professionally rewarding.
As a Mentor, you will be contributing to the legal profession
whilst further developing your mentoring, interpersonal and
communication skills. In addition, you will be keeping abreast
of emerging issues relevant to the less experienced legal
professionals.
As a Mentee, you will enjoy learning new skills and identifying
professional growth areas. You will also improve your goal setting
and enjoy working towards achieving those goals. You will be
exposed to a more senior, role model whom you can rely on for
professional guidance and support.
The MentorMe program will provide both Mentors and Mentees
with several networking opportunities in the form of social events
and workshops which is another benefit if you’re looking to expand
your legal network.
Design and Structure
MentorMe is designed to achieve the objectives outlined above and
as such, a structured agenda will be implemented.
Format
MentorMe is a one-on-one meeting. A structured agenda will be
implemented for the first 6 sessions of the program. Thereafter, it
is up to the Mentor and Mentee to decide on whether or not they
wish to pursue the program and if continuing, to decide on the
future format.
The sessions will take place on a monthly basis for approximately
one hour and the Mentor is responsible for ensuring the agenda
is followed. Each agenda will be tailored in accordance with the
desired criteria of both Mentor and Mentee. If the Mentee has
elected to include their behavioural assessment results, these will
