The BI process involves developing goals, determining questions, collecting data, cleaning the data, analyzing and reporting on it, and communicating the results. BI tools can help give associations the knowledge to remain relevant to members by collecting members' data and providing insights.

- The process sounds complex, and there is a bit of planning involved, but there are these broad steps. We’ll look at them in more detail. (CLICK) One thing about business intelligence is that people confuse business intelligence with facts. Both are distinctly separate from one another. Facts never change, but business intelligence constantly changes based on who gathered it, where it was collected, and when it was collected. (CLICK) First, determine the business goals. Develop the right questions to ask the data. Second, once you know the right questions to ask, you can begin collecting the data. You may already be collecting this information, or you might need to set up a system for getting the answers. Not all data arrives ready to use. Depending on where you get your data, You need to groom that data. Fourth, It’s time to analyze. This is the step where you present the answers in ways that are clear and useful, in the form of reports and data dashboards. Finally, take the analysis and communicate the results with the decision makers.
