- There is only one thing at fault – our attitude and approach. Great people transform weakness into strength Far too many give up There is always a way out. What impedes us can empower us. Opportunity to practice or develop virtue – patience, courage, humility, resourcefulness, justice, and creativity. Struggle is one constant in everyone’s life. You are not alone.
- How we perceive, or frame an obstacle is either a source of strength or a source of weakness. Resist temptation or excitement. We chose to react to how we feel. We can control our reaction. The most important pause. The little man and the elephant. The world is what it is, change is up to us. How we react to obstacles determine how successful we will be in overcoming them – or possibly thriving because of them. We must try to be objective; to control our emotions; to choose to see good in a situation; to steady our nerves; to ignore what disturbs or limits others; to place things in perspective; to revert to the present moment; to focus on what we can control. This is how we see the opportunity within the obstacle. It does not happen on its own. It is a process – one that results from self-discipline and logic. That logic is available to you. All you have to do is deploy it.

- We are never completely powerless We DECIDE if something will affect us. Know thy self. I decide how things will affect me. There are a lot of sharks in the world. If you plan to complete the swim, you will have to deal with them. So if you want to change the world, don’t back down from the sharks. I am not and never will be powerless. 12 steps?

- What is up to us? Our emotions, judgments, creativity, attitude, perspective, desires, decisions This is our playing field. Double down on what you can control. What is in our power magnifies our power. Training like pilots.
- When we believe in the obstacle more than our desired goal, what triumphs?
- There is good in every situation. We have to look for it. Every situation is an opportunity to act The obstacle is an advantage not adversity. The enemy is in our inability to see this. Rude or disrespectful – they underestimate us which is a huge advantage. Conniving – we do not have to apologize when we make an example of them. Howard Schultz Critical or question our abilities – lowered expectations are easier to exceed. Lazy – it makes what we do look efforfless.
