- 30 tools in 60 minutes was created for a presentation at the OCSOA executive assistants conference held in Niagara Falls Ontario, on May 31 – June 1, 2012.
- Copernic can be downloaded for a free home account. Use Copernic to quickly search and find files on your computer.
- This is a link to a creative commons search page where you can find different types of media with permission to use the media for your non-commercial purposes.
- Most of us use Google everyday. It would be worthwhile to spend 30 minutes to learn more of the advanced features of Google. Click on this page to see some of the automated features of Google.
- PicMonkey is a fun online site where you can upload your feature and apply several special effects to the photos.
- BigHugeLabs is a fun site where you can modify your photos and apply effects like picture frames, create posters, create puzzles from your photos and much more.
- Use Google Alerts to monitor the web for blogs, news, videos and more, on any topic or area of interest. You choose to have the information sent to you as they happen, daily, or weekly.
- Online convert will convert various formats of media into other formats for your use.
- Online site to convert files from one format to another also has tools to manage files
- Dropbox is one of the original cloud storage sites where you can store files and share them with others – good for sharing large files without emailing the attachment. Offers the option of sharing the link or requiring a password to open the file
- Diigo – visit the site to sign up for a free educator account. Great tool for marking up and capturing web pages. Also a great site to store bookmarks in the cloud and share with other members who have similar interests in specific topics. The curated bookmarks can be sent to you once a week so that you don’t have to go searching for resources on specific topics.
- Sign up for a free google apps for education acccount – offers great features like: Gmail, calendars, task lists, forms, and more
- Click this site for a sample of using Google Forms
- Sample scheduling a meeting
- Download Any Video Converter and then use this free program to download videos from YouTube. Also includes a converter to convert your files to various formats.
- Download Jing to your computer. You now have a powerful screen capture utility to capture images and videos.
- Login to Doodle to create an online form/poll to determine the availability of various people to meet at selected times
- If you are only using Internet Explorer as your Browser, you should download Chrome as an alternative browser
- Lots of add-ins for Chrome are available at the Chrome Store
- Google Tasks to help keep you organized
- Toodledo is an online task application
- Download Gimp onto your computer and you have a program that works like photoshop to manipulate images
- Use Bitly to shorten your long URL addresses prior to sharing them with others
- Sign up for Twitter and start following people
- Take a look at ScoopIt – search for topics of interest

- Evernote is a great free online cloud tool for synching notes and much more
- Store and share your presentations on SlideShare Also use SlideShare to search for presentations that others are willing to share
