damage surveys, and in providing support during
the claims and repairs process.
Over the years we have also played a leading
role in the development of warranties and
surveys to support loss prevention. Many of the
loss prevention surveys have been developed
in cooperation with the Joint Hull Committee
and not only include surveys of vessels but also
management capability, on board fuel
management and shipyard risk.

Hull & Machinery
damage surveys, risk
assessment surveys,
inspections and audits
For example, following a series of shipyard
accidents and losses in the early part of this
century, the JH143 shipyard risk assessment
warranty survey was introduced by the Joint
Hull Committee in 2003. Since then Braemar
(Incorporating The Salvage Association) has
carried out over 450 risk assessments with the
result being a significant reduction in these losses.
Today Braemar (Incorporating The Salvage
Association) offer a full range of risks assessment
surveys, many of which have been developed for
our clients benefit. We also carry out P&I condition
surveys, pre-purchase conditions surveys, OVID
