Good Morning!
My name is Susana Landeira and I am part of the US Marketing & Operations team at Microsoft.
I am happy to be here and talk to you about the private social network that we’ll be using during the conference: Yammer
I am going to briefly explain what Yammer is
I will go over some basics
And then show you how to get started
We will end with a quick Q&A if time permits
So, what is Yammer?
For example, at Microsoft we use Yammer not only to communicate among team members by sharing best practices, asking questions, praising others, but also it is a network that we leverage to engage and collaborate with other teams and groups all around the world, including customers!
For instance, my team uses Yammer to exchange thoughts around a new analyst report or product launch. You can have all kind of groups! They do not have to be work related! we have a group dedicated to exchange ideas on volunteering, or another one dedicated to discuss healthy eating habits and much more.
As I mentioned, Yammer is the social network tool at the Back to School Conference.
Each of you should have received an email from Yammer inviting you to join the network.
Just click on Accept Invitation and you will see this page
Enter your credentials, which is your work email and click sign up.
Now, let’s go through some basics!
You will first come to the Home Page where you would be able to see recent updates, announcements, praise someone and much more!
In order to be active on the network, you need to join the group or groups of your interest.
Once you are part of the group, you would be able to take notes, access files, share information, etc.
Another great feature is that you have your own inbox where you can send and receive messages from the network or individuals, including private messages.
Each network member is able create and edit their profile. You can upload your picture, add a short bio, input your contact info, etc.
