Point Elementary School in Oakville, MO holds an annual fundraiser called "Jar Wars" where students bring coins to school to earn positive or negative points for their class. The class with the most positive points at the end of the week wins. Over the years the fundraiser has raised over $27,000 for Basket of Hope, a nonprofit that provides gift baskets for seriously ill children in local hospitals. A team of three students participated in 2013 and helped raise $1,500, and they plan to participate every year to support this important cause.

Every year, Point Elementary School located
in Oakville, MO, a suburb of St. Louis has a
very successful fundraiser called Jar Wars.
Every child participates and is encouraged to
bring pennies and silver coins to school
representing positive and negative points
respectfully.
The class with the most positive points at the
end of the week wins the contest!

students at Point Elementary School!
 It has taught us how important it is to
remember the children in our community
that are being treated for serious
illnesses in our local hospitals.


purchase toys, games, craft items, and
more that will help to fill baskets to be
given to seriously ill children.
 We hope that Basket of Hope receives a
grant from Companies with a Mission so
many more children will receive these
wonderful gift baskets!


community of Oakville, MO in 1995 and
is now a nationwide organization!

