Project Title: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Career and Post-
Secondary Fair
Project Description – Provide a brief description of your project (50 words or less). This
description will be used in grant program summaries and publicity.
Areas of job growth in the Commonwealth are in STEM related professions. This fair will
provide students, parents, community members and staff information about what
professions are in demand and how to prepare for those professions. A job acquisition
seminar will be part of the event.

1. Briefly describe your project. State clearly how the project relates to the funding
category you have chosen.
2. What are the goals and objectives of your project? List sequential activities and
approximate time frame for attaining the goals. How will you measure the
success of the project?
3. What is the relationship of your project to the curriculum? Reference PDE
academic standards when applicable. In what way is this an innovative and
enriching approach to teaching and learning?
4. How will you evaluate the impact and success of the project? What are the
follow-up activities for students? Describe the long term impact on teaching and
learning.
5. Describe all equipment (nonexpendable items over $500) requested for this
project. How is the equipment essential to the goals of your project?

Project Title: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Career and Post-
Secondary Fair
Project Narrative: (page 1)
The STEM Fair will include presenters from Science, Technology, Engineering and Math professions that
will exhibit a visual presentation and/or activies to showcase opportunities in high priority professions in
our region as identified by the 5 county Workforce Investment Board (Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware,
Chester and Philadelphia counties). The professions will showcase a wide variety of options for the
attendees--from healthcare to environmental professions, engineering to networking and chemistry to
food science.
Keith Valley and High School students participate in activities throughout their school year that requires
them to think about themselves and how their talents and skills will benefit them in the world at large. This
activity is to expose the students to opportunities that they may not have thought about or didn't know
existed. Students attending will reflect on this activity in their electronic portfolios. The event will be held in
open house style. High school students attending in the morning and KV students attending in the
afternoon.
This activity compliments the PA Career Education and Work standard: Awareness (13.1.A 8 & 11).
Developmentally, this activity is appropriate for students in middle and high school (Donald Super--see
attached). It is an activity that supports the scope and sequence of our Career Education and Work
program. It is a new format as we will be intermixing career opportunities with educational opportunities
related to the careers presented side by side.
We will measure the success of the event by student survey and small focus groups. The long term
impact with an event like this is exciting to think about. For younger students it could create an interest or
passion to learn more about a particular field, it could influence courses they may plan to take in high
school. For older students the advantage is to make contacts in professional areas (possibly connecting
with a mentor for an internship), it will expose them to post-secondary schools featuring programs of
interest. Overall the event will teach students that there are a lot of professions that they do not know
about and that there are exciting opportunities for everyones future.
No equipment is required for this project. We will need to rent some items for our exhibitor booths and
purchase refreshments for our exhibitors.
