3. Be Proactive
www.strong-oak.com
Maintain a habit of personal vision
Think about your life, take responsibility for your
actions, be self aware, and make competent decisions
designed to get you where you envision you should be
personally.
Sometimes your goals will require a lot of work,
although the work should be worth it when you achieve
those goals. (This is not a class in opportunity cost)
4. www.strong-oak.com
Begin with the end in mind
Continually develop your level of personal leadership
Once you’ve defined you
purpose, your happiness,
your vision to make your
life whole, you must start
each day with tasks,
actions, and decisions, the
directly contribute to your
vision in a meaningful
way.
But seriously, be realistic; if your just turning 72 and decided to start college in
order to become a neurosurgeon, or started training to be a champion boxer, I wish
you all the luck in chasing your dreams, but the odds are stacked against you. Be
logical, and don’t take your life for granted.

Put First Things First
Make it a habit to manage yourself and your time
Prioritize your life!
Plan the time you spend on your
personal mission/ life adventure and
do what you can most effectively in
that time to execute and progress
forward towards you goals.

6. Think Win-Win
www.strong-oak.com
Always think in terms “us” in your relationships
What can “we” do today to achieve our desired results
tomorrow?
Leverage your relationship
appropriately and effectively
in a way that is mutually
beneficial for all parties
involved. Avoid negative win/
lose behavior, but keep in
mind there is such a thing as
healthy competition…just in
case you want a shot at the
champion foosball title!
7. Seek First to Understand,
then to be Understood
www.strong-oak.com
Habitually communicate clearly
Communicate effectively, but understand who is receiving
(or not receiving) the message you are delivering. Everyone
has a different cultural backgrounds, perceptions,
etcetera… so don’t go drill sergeant at the Buddhist
monastery just yet. Embrace individual differences, and
treat others with respect and dignity.
8. Synergize
www.strong-oak.com
Leverage differences: teamwork makes the dream work
Leverage the unique differences in your relationships to
create a whole that is greater than the some of its parts.
Time is money,
and somewhere in
that time is a way
for you and your
team to create
your own wealth
as you define it.
9. Sharpen the Saw
www.strong-oak.com
Renew thy self and maintain a healthy life balance
Keep you sanity, you are in life for
the long run (hopefully). Find a
way to keep the “fire within”
burning while balancing yourself
mentally, physically, socially, and
spiritually.
Developing healthy habits and allocating proper time to these
intertwined dimensions of what makes you are empowers you to
positively change, grow, and evolve towards your personal vision.
