Citizen A citizen is a member of a community, state, or country. Following laws is an important part of being a good citizen. Another way to be a good citizen is to help others.
Responsibility A person or thing for which one is responsible. Examples: The responsibility for this mess is yours! A child is a responsibility to its parents.
Needs and Wants Needs: Things that people must have to live are called needs. Every person needs food, clothing, love, and shelter. Shelter is a place where people live. Wants: Wants are things people would like to have but do not need in order to live. People cannot buy everything that they want. Often they have to make a choice. Example: I need food to live. I want ice cream tonight.
Discussion What is a community? What are some rules and laws that you and other citizens have to follow? How can you be a good citizen? Name some responsibilities that you have. What is the difference between needs and wants? What are some examples?
