Key Achievements
♦ Project managed and implemented the installation of backup DSL lines to all Marks & Spencer Travel
Bureaus. Site isolations due to DSL issues have now reduced to 0, improving the service for M&S and its
customers.
♦ Remotely managed and instructed HSBC Global Resourcing team (India) as part of the M&S Travel Bureau
Project. This allowed a more aggressive rollout programme to be implemented with dedicated resource.
♦ Designed and configured the Head Office networks required to support the high profile Voice Biometrics
Project. This enabled HSBC to be the first Bank to use Voice Biometrics for customer security checks on IVR
systems.
♦ Supported the weekly installation of Cisco Wireless infrastructure into HSBC Branches. HSBC branches are now
able to use handheld tablets running over the wireless network. This allows for better customer interaction.
♦ Managed Dimension Data engineering team during Branch installs and upgrades. Having a well-managed
engineering resource enables faster and efficient installation.
♦ Designed, managed and implemented the wired and wireless Cisco LAN/WAN networks in a new HSBC office in
Southampton. HSBC now have a state of the art building in Southampton which is able to fully support a
flexible working environment.
♦ Undertook the migration of several Head Office sites WAN networks from Vodafone MPLS to BT P2P circuits.
This helped HSBC achieve cost savings and reduced the number of failures directly associated to the Vodafone
MPLS WAN.
♦ Worked with HSBC Greece IT team to upgrade the Athens Head Office network and 20 HSBC Branches in
Greece. The Greece network was heavily reliant on end of support hardware and a refresh was urgently
required.
♦ Managed HSBC Algeria team during the installation of Data networks in new Branch and DR sites. The HSBC
Algeria business had regulatory requirements they needed to meet for Disaster Recovery.
♦ Provided onsite support and Cisco configuration of new hardware required at main HSBC Jersey Head Office. A
full network refresh was required in Jersey and being onsite made the migration approach easier.
♦ Installed and configured a new LAN/WAN in the main HSBC office in Madrid, Spain. The Spanish business
requested onsite support as the hardware being installed was new and unused in HSBC Spain.
♦ Worked in the HSBC Data Centre team which involved the use of Cisco Nexus, GSS, CSS and F5 load-
balancing. This involved the provision of network environments for new HSBC banking services within the 2
main UK DCs
♦ Supported the installation of a new Group Email Archive system in the HSBC Group Data Centres in the UK.
HSBC required a new email archive system to replace the current outdated system.
2. ♦ Designed, managed and implemented the LAN/WAN Cisco networks in a new HSBC office in Dublin, Ireland.
HSBC Irelands new head office was setup and ready for new users on time and within budget.
♦ Migrated HSBC Head Office sites from P2P Data Centre links to MPLS Cloud (THUS, C&W and Vodafone). Large
costs savings were achieved by migrating the HSBC Campus and Branch sites to a new MPLS WAN.
♦ Managed the Data Centre Group Router Network and liaised directly with the Group Network team in Hong
Kong. All HSBC Group network connectivity passes through the UK Group Gateways within the 4 UK DCs.
♦ Managed and implemented network updates to support the migration of all HSBC Head Offices to Auto
negotiation. A common NIC setting was required across all HSBC sites in the UK and Europe. Auto negotiation
was the chosen standard.
♦ Organised and implemented the upgrade of all HSBC UK Head Office sites from Token Ring to Ethernet. All
HSBC Head Office sites were migrated to Ethernet in line with worldwide standards.
