The Non-Cooperation Movement (1920-22) too encourage student participation. It included
the boycott of government-affiliated schools and colleges in its ambit of 'non- cooperation'.
By some estimates, about 90,000 students left schools and colleges to join more than 800
national schools and colleges that sprung up all over the country. Bhagat Singh was a
student of the National College in Lahore. His involvement in politics was of course,
deep-rooted. In fact, in an article titled 'Students and Politics' published in the journal Kirti in
June 1928, he made the case for student political involvement succinctly and vigorously.
