Previous Summer Schools in Pictures since 2012. RCSR has been hosting Summer Schools that have added value to thought and processes leaders who want to derive value for every dollar invested in CSR initiative. Besides responsible businesses are engaged in more conversations beyond the traditional "do good feeling"!! RCSR, the leading capacity builder of thought and process leaders in effective investment “beyond mere T-shirt philanthropy” will sharpen the effectiveness of major business leaders who are braced for business unusual within the private and public domains, with a special focus on state owned companies and parastatals. Transformational leaders will introspect, have candid conversations and commit to transformational leadership for innovation, growth and sustainability. 2015 SUMMER SCHOOL: BEYOND CSR: TRANSFORMATIONALLEADERSHIP FOR SOCIAL ENTREPRENUERSHIP, INNOVATION AND GROWTH The harsh economic reality calls for ‘business unusual’ and a revisit to the drawing board for many progressive and responsible entities. The cash crunch requires that each company asks candidly what “CSR/CSI” means to them and vouch for the impact of every dollar invested. Internal and stakeholders need to know the ‘heart and soul’ of their employer, shareholder, supplier, retailer or service provider. Is the pressure from ‘doing good, is good business’ having a backlash? “Green washing” or “T-shirt philanthropy” surely is not sustainable for both the beneficiary and the benefactor. Stakeholders and investors are asking questions about companies’ footprints in the entire value chain? Employers are asking: ‘why is it that the old adage that say: charity starts at home, seems not to be playing out in favour of employees?’ Why is “CSR is out there and whilst we are neglected”. Are the philanthropic gestures contributing to addressing the fundamentals or merely providing palliative care? Does anyone there care about the children with the dormant potential that may not see the break of day if nobody acts today? Does CSR/CSI offer any hope for the unemployed women and the youths? Is “CSR/CSI” the only viable model to look at? Does shared value, inclusive business, social entrepreneurship or social business have any better offering? Does this increasing jargon chain mean anything? Where is the silver bullet that will catalyse social transformation that takes care of making profit, preserving the environment and meeting social needs? Can the current or future CSR/CSI budget be a launch pad for innovation and growth? The Summer School is solution oriented. Presenters will present research based information, challenge participants to be innovative as well demonstrate what can be done. Sustainable solutions to catalysing an explosion of children’s creative potential, maximising of the women as human capital, supporting youth mentorship and employment hubs, and generating employment for youths through the use clean energy, will be shared.
