•
Television Programming
Radio Broadcasts (CBC Radio 2)
Online Media Streaming (cbc.ca)
Advertisement Air Time (Standard length of 30 seconds)
• Clients/Customers
• Advertising Companies
• Businesses (P&G, Car Manufacturers, etc.)
11. Main Services
• The CBC does not export its television broadcasts, however much of
the material that can be found online can be viewed by people outside
of Canada.
• In addition, advertisements are sold based on a “top down” model.
This means that the ads are offered varying levels of coverage.
• Network
• Provincial (Regional)
• Local
• The following clip is an example of the
weather segment that is produced for
The National.
13. Service Process
• The above is an outline for the life of a advertisement spot that would
be sold by the CBC.
14. Service Process
• Another important scheduling problem that arises with
network television is how to bring the same content to
people in different time-zones.
• For example a program such as The National would need to be
broadcast several times in order to reach the entire country at the
same local time.
• The CBC building is set-up in a style comparable to that
of a batch layout found in manufacturing businesses.
• Each department is located in a certain portion of the
building, and are generally kept separated from other
departments.
17. Plant Layout
• Floors 2 - 9
•

Various Departments
Board Rooms
Server Room
Support Rooms
18. Plant Layout
• Studios
• There are three studios that have more than 11,000 square feet.
• There are also three studios under 5,000 square feet.
• Studio Facilities
• There are three control rooms utilized for five of the studios.
• Each of the three larger studios are equipped with a lighting
grid, and other various staging improvements.
• Next video is a clip of how a newsroom is set up
20. Inventory Control
• Describe the inventory control systems in use and why
the company selected that system
• Are they satisfied
• If not what are they planning on changing to?
• Next video is how each clip is organized with the system
24. CBC’s Maintenance Policy
• Does the firm have a proactive maintenance policy or do
they simply “fix it when it breaks”
• Some company's have a combination of the two
• (they said something about having a backup generator
running on eastern time
26. Unexpected?
• Put in background information on pamela wallin and her
show (see video for this to make sense)
• OR if you can think of something better please use that
instead
32. PLEASE DELETE THIS SLIDE AND ALL “NOTES”. THEY WILL SHOW
UP IN THE FINAL SUBMISSION IF YOU DON’T!
Editor's Notes
LOOK FOR NOTES HERE!!-------------------------------Cameron’s proposed voice-over layout:The first person will handle the intro up until the end of the facilitators slides (Slides 1-9 on the original powerpoint)The second person will handle Main Services to Plant Layout (Slides 10-15 on the original)The third person will handle Inventory to CBC’s maintenance policy (Slides 16-20 on the original)The final person will handle everything from there onwards, so the ergonomics section until the outro (Slides 21-27)****I say the original powerpoint because some people may feel the need to add in additional slides in order to cover all of their material****
THIS IS ANIMATED, it looks bad now but just edit the words and hit play, it should make sense
Please add extra info if you have any for all the facilitators (ps is facilitators a good word to choose? Or should I say tour guides?) I dont know edit away
Make sure to note the next clip.Could also talk about the scheduling problems with networktv. How its 5 in halifax but 6 in toronto and 9 in vancouver

Something about cloud computing?
Just provide background context for the next clip and try to define it using textbook terms if possible
We didn’t really ask about reliability I don’t know if you can get any information on that
Frederick needs to scan this!
Extra photos I scanned. They should be in the dropbox too
