NovaCorp - Energy Saver Smart Device for Street Lights Presentation

NOVACORP
REDEFINING the POSSIBILITIES
ENERGY SAVER SMART DEVICE
FOR
STREET LIGHTS
FACTS
18%-38% of the Total Electricity bill goes towards
street lighting, globally
India has a total installed capacity of generating
275.912 GW as of 31 July 2015
India has 35 million street lights which generate a total
demand of 3,400 MW (1.23%)
OVERVIEW
• Conservation of excess wastage of electricity in Street Lights due to
malfunctioning of bulbs and improper maintenance
• Remotely controlled Street Lights
• Luminosity control
• Completely Centralised and autonomous system
PROBLEM
Manual switch control of Street Lights
Pin-pointing faulty or malfunctioning street lamps
Very high energy consumption
SOLUTION
 Our Smart Device incorporates clusters of streetlight lamps
that can control the intensity of light
 Keeping track of malfunctioning/faulty bulbs, and power
consumption
 Transmitting these data via a wireless network or GSM, to a
secure server that captures the data and presents it in a
web-browser interface, which can be used to take the
records of defective street lights
COMPONENTS
• Microcontroller Module - Arduino ( Atmega 28p Chipset)
• Transceiver Module - GSM SIM 900A Module
• Real Time Clock - DS3232 RTC Module
• Resistors
• Mobile Application
• Web Application
• Relay
COMPONENTS - MICROCONTROLLER
• Microcontroller Module - Arduino– In this product, we
are using an open-source microcontroller Arduino which is
based on Atmega 28p Chipset . It enables the device to
process the command between User Interface and other
components.
COMPONENTS – TRANSCEIVER MODULE
• Transceiver Module - GSM SIM 900A Module – A
transceiver is a components which is used to transmit the
data and also enables us to receive the data of the other
components of the device. In this case, we have GSM
SIM900A Module as a transceiver. GSM Module transmit
the relevant data from the user interface and also as per
requirement it send back the data to User.
COMPONENTS – REAL-TIME CLOCK
• Real Time Clock – RTC is stands for Real Time Clock, we
are using DS3232 RTC Module to schedule the device and
make handle the operations on the time basis.
COMPONENTS - RESISTORS
• Resistors – Resistors is a passive component used to
control current in the circuit. Its resistance is given by the
ratio of voltage applied across the terminals to the current
passing through it.
COMPONENTS – APPLICATION
• Mobile Application – Mobile Application is used to
interface the user from the device. Mobile Application give
access the user to the device very easily and quick in offline
mode.
• Web Application – Web Application is used to monitored
and handle the device remotely over the internet.
COMPONENTS - RELAY
• Relay – Relay is an electromagnetic device which is used to
isolate two circuits electrically and connect them
magnetically. Here we need to use it as Relay is much
helpful in an electronic circuit( working at a very low
voltage) to an electrical circuit which works at very high
voltage.

WORKING
The working of street light is very easy to understand. In this
circuit, we are using an application. In that app. we have 2
modes of controlling the street light.
• Manual on/off.
• Schedule on/off.
WORKING - REAL-TIME ON/OFF
When we press the ON button of our app the a message will be
send to the GSM, Inbuilt in our product. Then gsm will send this
message to Arduino. Then message will go to on segment and
street light starts glowing.
Similarly, when we press OFF button of our app send message to
GSM .then GSM will send the message to Arduino and then
message will go to OFF segment and street light gets OFF.
WORKING - SCHEDULE ON/OFF
In this mode we have option to set the time that when we
want street light to be ON and When it gets OFF. When we
set the time then the application will send the Message to the
GSM and the GSM will send the message to the Arduino.
Arduino will detect the message given by the user and
further decide to forward the command to ON/OFF segment
according to the message. The bulb automatically starts
glowing at the time set by the user before and similarly gets
OFF.

THINGS WHAT PEOPLE LIKE ABOUT THIS NEW
PRODUCTS
 Mehek Bassi The conservation part. How we can brighten or dim the lights
according to weather and requirement. Usually Street lights are on
even in bright day light, leading to unnecessary power consumption,
if we could have something like this, we could run more number of
days on low power consumption
Eco - friendly innovative Product cost effective & single
point control.
Error rectification system, low power consumption.
Its quite handy when it comes to usage, it's efficient nature
and the fact that it can save up to 33% of our energy
expenditure annually.
