Projects Worked:
Project Name: Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)
Description: NFV focuses on optimizing the network services by decoupling the network
functions from proprietary hardware appliances, so that they run in software to accelerate service
innovation and provisioning, Our main focus here is to showcase and enhance the NFV solution
provided by HP using various HP products like HP Helion Openstack, NFV-D orchestrator ( MANO
component )
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Involved in deploying and configuring Openstack based HP solution using Tripleo and
ansible.
• Integrating different partner VNFs to demonstrate service chaining.
• Hosting demos showcasing the role of SDN and NFV in service chaining
• Involved in discussing the demo use cases with different partners of HP like 6Wind,
Brocade, Intel, WindRiver, PaloAltoNetworks e.t.c. who provide VNFs.
Project Name: TCS Next Generation R&D
Description: Research & Development plays a vital role in the overall development of any
product. This is an internal project of TCS to build competency in open stack area. I have
mainly worked in solving open stack bugs and assisting in POCs. R&D is very essential and
important for solving the problems on design, implementation of the projects, appropriate
technology for cost reduction etc.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Developed a new openstack service named “ovft” whic h takes ova as input, parses the
included ovf, uploads the included images onto glance, creates the provided networks,
generates a yaml and provides it to heat for deployment on to the required networks.
• Implemented the RPC part of the OVFT service which c onverts the ovf file to a HOT
template
• . Implemented the REST api support for OVFT service
• Deploy OVF file (or) launch multiple VMs at the same time using the OVF generated.
• Have knowledge on configuring Customized Openstack to include an additional panel for
user inputs so as to generate OVF (Open virtualization format) descriptor file.
• Installing and configuring open stack components on different flavors of Linux like
fedora, Ubuntu. (using deployment methods like devstack, pack stack and manual
method )
• Fixed multiple bugs from Openstack launch pad. The bugs are mainly from nova and
keystone area.
(a) 1257234 (b) 1255914 (c) 1252299 (d) 1255992 (e) 1255994
• Created a standalone desktop application to support the creation of OVF file with 2.0
standards
• Deployed private cloud using automated scripts like devstack or packstack and manual
install on Ubuntu and Fedora OS
• Good understanding of nova, keystone, quantum, horizon and libvirt
• Have successfully configured multi-node setup using GRE tunnels
• Answer queries of other Openstack developers, gaining launchpad karma points. (Karma
is attributed for work done in Launchpad)
Project Name: Flexi Platform
Description: Flexi Platform (FP) is a modular Linux and IP-based software platform that
provides services to build various IP network applications. Flexi platform is a software platform
running on top a hardware on which a number of software applications run. Architecture of Flexi
Platform software is distinguished between two primary parts: Base Platform and Flexi
Components (building blocks for networking area). This platform is the core platform for
building of network elements. I was mainly part of development of IP Networking related
features of Flexi Component, working on hardware like ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications
Computing Architecture), BCN (Box Controller Node).
The main goal of Flexi platform design is to achieve large scale reusability of hardware and
software components. Building network products using this platform will be faster and more cost
effective.
Roles and Responsibilities:
 Have good expertise in Flexi platform IP Networking area. Involved in analysis, design,
and development and testing of IP Networking and application software.
 Worked on integration of virtualization packages such as libvirt, qemu-kvm to WR in Flexi
platform.
 Solved two bugs on open source virtualization package libvirt.
 Have experience in integrating vendor specific tools like ipmitool, open HPI to
Flexi platform.
 Involved in the development of the following major features:
 BFD graceful restart support for Routing Protocols
 KBFD integration with BFD stub
 Tracing functionality for routing protocols
 Generating symptom report for various plugins
 Effectively managed the role of a scrum master (team leader) for 4 months.
