  1. If we don’t train our teachers well their classrooms can end up this way! This image is from one of my teacher trainers and one of the things I liked about her style of training is that it is very hands-on and I tend to be hands on as well.
  2. Social skills – are developed and practice based on the structures used; students can learn how to listen to each other, resolve conflicts, set and revise agendas, keep on task, and encourage each other; time devoted to review group process which can be done individually and as a team, i.e. Did we help each other? Did we ask for help if we needed it? Did we all participate?
  3. Activity: With a partner make a schedule for a specific age group!
  4. Once you win the parent over, you win the child over!
  5. At some point most people will have to give a presentation. For many of our learners this is a different type of skill they have to learn and for their teachers this can be difficult because we teach rehearsed language as well as presentation skills. Many of us may also have problems with presentation. However, teaching our learners how to present helps them with their English related to their working environment as well as provides them with a confidence and motivation to continue their English. Great presentation skills lead to promotions and accolades from colleagues! Even good for teens to learn.
  6. Activity:Write down items you’d include in a survival kit. Compare with a partner.
