2. • Pictures and videos about different
electrical tools and materials
3. Here are some of
the basic tools
and their uses in
making simple
electrical gadgets.
4. • Combination Pliers –these are used to
twist, cut, hold and pick electrical wire or
tie wires.
5. • Side cutter Pliers –use to cut electrical
wires or tie wires, also use in skinning
small wires.
6. • Long Nose Pliers – use to hold, cut, twist or
pick up small objects in a limited space.
7. • Wire strippers/splicer – use to take off a
portion at the end of the wire before it is
connected to terminals of other electrical
materials.
8.
9.
10. • Hammer – used to fasten nail through the
wood, bamboo or concrete wall.
11. • Screw Drivers – tools used in tightening
and loosening screws. It has 2 kinds: flat
and Philips.
12. • Soldering gun/iron - this is used to join
two tiny metallic parts such as television
and radio spare parts.
13. Electric Drill- This is used to bore holes on
concrete surfaces or metal surfaces. It is
equipped with different types of blades or
drill bit for concrete, wood, and metal
surfaces.
14. Electrical tape- This is used to wrap open wires
to avoid contacts with another wires. Main
purpose of electrical tape is for insulation of
connected open wire.
15. Cables and wires- This comes with different
gauge or sizes. They are important in
making electrical connections.
16. • Tester – an instrument used to test if there
is a flow of electricity in the connection
made.
17. Male plug- This is attached to one end of
a gadget and used to insert to a female
electrical socket to secure electrical
connection
18. Female outlet- This material is usually attached to the
wall of houses with ready electric supply, from which a
male plug is inserted to obtain electric supply.
Sometimes it is found on the other end of improvised
extension cord while male plug on the other end.
20. Health And Safety Practices In
Making Electrical Gadgets
1. Have the right tools and materials needed before starting to work.
2. Wear loose, comfortable clothing to allow freedom of movement.
3. Work with good light to allow you to see everything you are doing.
4. Wear leather gloves when working with electricity. This is a must.
5. Inspect tools carefully before using. Be sure that every tool you use is in
good working condition.
6. Repair any broken tool before using as this might cause accidents.
7. Know what tool to use for the right job. This makes work easier and faster.
8. 8, Consult with an expert before and during repairs so you are guided
accordingly.

21. Any question?
• What electrical tools I am going to use
when I want to remove the plate of the
convenience outlet or switch?
• I want to make an extension cord, what
electrical materials I am going to buy?
22. • What are the tools and materials
needed in making simple electrical
gadgets?
• What are the importance in using
tools and materials in making
electrical gadgets?
23. Always remember that:
Home repair are important
because they improve efficiency in
operating the house. It also costs
less to repair if maintenance is done
Doing some simple repairs use
the proper tools to avoid accident.
