Problem
Our client went live on ADP Vantage in October 2015 and the Payroll Manager resigned suddenly shortly
thereafter. The remaining payroll team did not know how to run payroll as the Payroll Manager had been
running the payroll and they had not been trained on Vantage. With year-end coming quickly and no
payroll processing or year-end checklists or procedures in place, they knew they needed help. Further
complicating the situation were other payroll issues including the inability to pull GL information and
inaccurate tax withholdings.
What we did
Processed semi-monthly payroll in Vantage
Provided side-by-side training on Vantage Payroll to new Payroll Manager and other payroll
resources
Facilitated learning with Finance and Human Resources
Evaluated payroll processes and made suggestions for improvement
Defined and created ADPR reports on payroll processing results
Implemented payroll processing audits, increasing more accurate payroll delivery
Audited for and implemented local tax codes, as appropriate
Trained members of the GL team to pull GL files and load into financial system
Reviewed requirements for year-end payroll tasks, created year-end checklist and balanced year-
end reports
Cleaned up employees’ data with inaccurate tax coding due to data entry for W2 processing
Implemented procedures and trained various team members to minimize or eliminate tax errors

• Improved the perception and reputation of the payroll department within the company
Greatly reduced or eliminated payroll and tax coding errors
Payroll team is now self-sufficient on Vantage
Better, more successful inter-departmental partnerships and workflow between Payroll, Finance
and HR
