Subject: Proposal to operate night shift canteen for night shift workers.
1. Introduction
Shift work has the potential to alter food consumption patterns in ways that are detrimental to health.
Therefore, a night shift canteen should be implemented to provide a balanced diet food for the night shift
workers. It’s an easy access to the workers to obtain healthy food at night time.
2. Problem Statement
1. Most of the restaurants/shops were closed during the night shift hours.
2. Night shift staffs/workers take longer time to travel out to find restaurants/shops during break.
3. Some of the outside foods found unhealthy to consume which may deteriorate health.
3. Solutions
1. Prepare tender of bids for providing 24-hour canteen services.
The tender of bids must contain instructions to the tenderers for furnishing information as a part of pre-
qualification criterion and broad scope of work, articles of agreement, basic information of the tenderers and
general terms and conditions of contract. Tenderers must be able to operate 24/7 to accommodate factory
worker/staff.
2. Choosing the tenderer.
Choosing the right tenderer can cost the factory significantly in terms of time and money. There are multiple
things to consider when choosing a tenderer such as the price, quality of food and services, ethics and integrity
of the tenderer and customer services. It is important to know the background of a tenderer before proceeding
to ensure they provide the level of service that is similar or better to current canteen.
3. Contact suppliers.
To gain more information and knowledge regarding the canteen food and operation, need to contact and
communicate with the available suppliers. The suppliers will help us for further action.

initiative. The operating hours is also suitable as per workers night shift working hours.
4. Conclusion
Canteen is important, because it is a convenient way to deliver a range of healthy and nutritious food and drink
option towards our workforce. Providing 24-hour canteen operation able to provide space for employees to
eat and take a break in comfortable safe surrounding without leaving the company. Reducing employee’s
movement to outside able to prevent from road-accident and employees may have enough rest-time instead of
travelling. Besides having a good canteen operation able to increase productivity of the company.
It is highly recommended to have a 24-hour canteen operation in order to support company productivity.
As the last step is to seek approval from management regarding to operate night shift canteen at factory. I
would really appreciate it for your consideration to proceed and agree with this proposal which is give benefits
to many people.
