Grade 2 students- Learning how machines work

Grade 2 are inquiring into the 6 Simple Machines that makes our lives easier under the Transdisciplinary theme ‘How the world works’. As part of the Unit they witnessed various experiments performed in the physics lab finding out firsthand how simple machines actually work and how they make human lives easier. They went on a Campus tour and identified various Simple machines we use around us. The Unit finished with a field trip to Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum in Kasturba road where they saw both simple machines and complex machines at work. It was a fun and educative unit. The visit to the museum at the end of the Unit was ideal, as they could connect all that they learnt with the real world.
