2. Wear and Gear - Sports
Shipment rejections are a problem for all businesses. These usually arise due to:
Label not printed properly
Label not pasted correctly
Bad quality of paper, print and small size of barcode
Wrong size of sleeve
In the following slides, we will take a look at how each factor affects your shipments and what
you can do to avoid them.
3. Case 1: Label not printed properly
Happens when the person printing is not careful enough to place the paper for printing correctly
Another reason could be due to bad quality of the printer
Multiple white lines can be seen going through the barcode
Do’s
Use of good quality printer with proper dark ink to
ensure quality printing such that there are no white
lines or blank areas in the print
Ensure all text is printed properly
Dont’s
Do not use badly printed labels (with white lines,
lighter printed than normal, wrong size)
Do not have text on top of the barcode
5. Case 2: Label not pasted correctly
Sometimes labels are pasted on the edge with one half on the face of the package and the other of it on
the adjacent face, making it difficult to scan
Do’s
Ensure labels are pasted neatly over the
sleeve/carton at the right place (in a sturdy area)
Ensure proper packaging of the shipment, neatly
taped without wrinkles in the taped area/cling
wrap, especially over the label
Ensure that the entire label is pasted only on a
single side
Dont’s
Do not paste the label on the edge of the package –
label pasted across two adjacent sides of the
package
Do not use an over-sized sleeve to pack goods
Do not put tape/cling wrap shabbily over the label
Do not change the size of or cut off the original
label just to try fitting it in the area of the package
7. Case 3: Bad quality of paper, print and small size of
barcode
In case of a bad printer, bad paper quality or an edited size of the label being printed, the quality of the
printed label may not be desirable since the scanner may not read the barcode properly
Do’s
Use good quality printer with proper and dark ink to
ensure quality printing
Ensure the label is printed in the original size and
shape
Use good quality paper
Dont’s
Do not use badly printed label (with white lines,
lighter printed than normal, wrong size)
Do not change the size of or cut off the original
label just to try fitting it in the area of the package
8. Case 3: Bad quality of paper, print and small size of
barcode
9. Case 4: Wrong size of sleeve
If the sleeve is bigger than the size of the product, the label may not be pasted in a proper area of the
package leading to crumpling of the label during transit if the package gets folded
Even the total weight of the package may become higher than what is mentioned on the label
Do’s
Use properly sized sleeves for every package
Ensure labels are pasted neatly over the
sleeve/carton at the right place (in a sturdy area)
Ensure proper packaging of the shipment, neatly
taped without wrinkles in the taped area/cling
wrap, especially over the label
Ensure label is glued properly to the package so
that it does not come off
Dont’s
Do not use an over-sized sleeve to pack goods
Do not put tape/cling wrap shabbily over the label
