Site installation of the pipe work mentioned in previous work experience. Site work
scope included the installation of all structural steel, piping, mechanical equipment,
electrical and instrumentation components, quality control punching, hydro testing
and commissioning as well as final hand overs.
Initially working in the quality control department assisting with defining testing
systems from P&IDs. Then worked in the commercial department dealing with the
pricing of extra work (out of original scope) and tracking the progress of extra work.
Expanding knowledge of the contractual aspect of construction, dealing with the
client’s commercial department and resolving various contractual disputes.
Invoicing, Compensation Events, Early Warning and Project Manager
Communications were dealt with on a daily basis. The contract was of the NEC
Option E format, time and material cost reimbursable, which involved constant
learning and expansion of knowledge to understand and apply the rules of the
contract correctly.
Structural steel for the entire plant was re-measured for motivation to re-schedule
the baseline schedule and amend the contract for the project. Quantity surveying
experience was subsequently gained by means of this exercise
Currently involved in the planning department managing the 3 Week Look Ahead,
attending planning meetings and physically being on site to identify constraints.
Involved in various communications with the client, suppliers, subcontractors and
colleagues both on site and at head office.
January 2011 – November 2014 Stefanutti Stock Mechanical
Training Engineer
Attended vacation work at Stefanutti Stocks as part of a full bursary with Stefanutti
Stocks Mechanicals. The bursary was awarded in January 2011, terminating on
submission of final year exams in 2014. Vacation work involved various minor
engineering tasks. An IRCA International Risk Assessment and Root Cause
Analysis course was completed during vacation work.
March 2014 – May 2014 PCI Engineering
Training Engineer
Attended two months of experience work at PCI Engineering. Visited water filtration
plants and pump stations. Learnt about water filtration from sewerage. Experience
in procurement of materials and equipment. Various communications with
colleagues and suppliers.
