On Friday 2nd February we were delighted to welcome a delegation of eight teachers and staff from Laugarnesskóli Primary School in Reykjavik. Laugarnesskóli is the first Icelandic school to gain a Silver Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Award and we welcomed the opportunity to share practice and ideas. After a tour of the school and classrooms, the Headteacher very kindly spoke at Assembly and gifted a beautiful book about Iceland for our Library. We are really looking forward to establishing a new International partnership between our schools.
As global citizens, pupils were encourage to participate in this year's #showthelove climate action campaign, by noticing and recording evidence of climate change over the next few weeks.
We concluded Week Three of our City of Edinburgh 'Be Resilient' Health and Wellbeing topic 'Have a Goal' by sharing pupil examples of goals they have recently set as a family.

Introduce ‘Have a Goal’ from the toolkit
Having a goal helps to motivate us. However it is not always easy and sometimes it can very challenging. How well we cope with these challenges is based on how resilient we are.
We all have different things that we use that can help to make us more resilient….
Some of the things are things that we can do automatically – others are things we need to learn
When people go through difficult times, we know there are some things that help them to keep going. We can learn what these are through reflecting on what has happened and by talking about it.
Family Task
Create a poster of someone who demonstrates resilience. It can be someone you know, a personality from the field of sport, music or media or a character in a book or film. Label your poster with the character traits that has helped them get through difficult times.
